  2. Cheers mate Ha yeah I remember that... didn't feel to well after going out with you in your car
  3. Circuit of Wales gets the go ahead from the council to commence building by the end of the year for completion 2015/16.. will look forward to getting the beast out on this one looks nice and technical with some possible elevation changes too... 3.5 miles long so on par with Silverstone ...Nice and challenging. I also like that they are putting a 4* hotel on the premises right next to the track I know where I will be doing some back to back track days then hehe. http://circuitofwales.com/Resources/Main-Aerial---Populous.jpg http://circuitofwales.com/Resources/M-Aerial-circuit-at-night---Populous.jpg
  4. Do you reckon a 640lbft impact wrench will be able to do it? Oh and another bump with ref the seals?
  5. I too need to replace my seals, is this an easy job?
  6. My new diff coupling has arrived... it also happens to be the worlds most expensive piece of rubber.
  7. Cheers mate, is it these ones I need for the upper rear arms? SPF1922K
  8. I have just checked on Power flex website and they don't list the bushes for the top arm at all?? I now guess it will have to be a entire new OEM arm or some fancy aftermarket one.
  9. Yeah, I too saw that Steve ran standard arms and used poly bushes and with good results. I actually believe it inspired me to get the R2 bushes for my last car, which again I remember being blown away after they were installed. The thing is I have always thought of getting the best for the car as plainly put the car deserves it, however like you I am having trouble justifying spending that sort of cash for a full adjustable setup. I know getting fully adjustable arms it will ultimately make the car handle better, and I do like the idea of the Rear Wisefab kit as it replaces the stock setup entirely and is a fully adjustable setup, for well.. pretty descent money. It also seems to be proven product which is nice, but I think it will be something to consider in the future I think, possibly part of a winter project. For the meantime though the car needs to have the top arm bushes replaced. I think for now I will get the poly bushes for the rear top arms mainly to see if this was part of the cause of the vibration issues I had recently. I may as well as they are not expensive and will help with the diagnosis. After all, even if this is not the best solution its still 100% better then it is now.
  10. Thats what I thought, on my last supra I had all the bushes changed to R2 Racing, the difference was incredible. Yeah I saw your post with the offset bushes, I don't think I can wait as long as you have tbh which kinda puts me off.
  11. Yeah I will do but probably something for the future rather than now. Although as I have to replace either the bushes or arms anyway (Which ever I decide) it maybe a good time to do it. Hmmmm Decisions decisions...
  12. Well this was one of the options I was looking at mainly as I could benefit on the entire setup having it fully adjustable as it would suit my current setup perfectly (as everything else is now fully adjustable apart from the arms). The thing is the known proven products like Ikeya are mega expensive and whilst I would love to spend £4k on a new set of suspension arms I cant justify that for the failure of a couple of bushes.. saying that spending out on new OEM is bad enough. There are always the more unknown "brands" from Aus on eBay but as they are sooo much cheaper there must have been a quality break somewhere. (the replacement rose jointed upper arms on eBay are around £250 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-SUPRA-JZA80-REAR-UPPER-CAMBER-ARMS-/140965634280?) I have been looking at the Wisefab rear suspension arm and hub carrier kit, I know that Wisefab are mainly to do with drifiting however they say that their rear kit is also good for circuit racing although I cant find anyone using them on circuit - non drift applications. http://pics.driftworks.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/small_image/403x370/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/t/o/toyotarearthumb.jpg Some more info - http://www.wisefab.com/uus/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=wisefab.tpl&product_id=16&category_id=7&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=18&lang=en the thing is this comes out at around £1600 which is not bad considering..
  13. Did a bit more Vibration diagnosis last night by going over each suspension component in detail and have found two suspect bushes which have a slight knock on the upper rear suspension arms (both rear arms, both the exact same bush) Obviously any knocking from a bush means it needs replacing So it leaves me with a number of options, Replace both of the Arms with new OEM units or Adjustable ones. Replace the failed bushes with Poly ones (the ball joints are fine). I am not sure what to do really, I am leaning towards just re-bushing the old arms with Poly bushes but I am wondering If I am just wasting time and should purchase new OEM or Adjustable ones. Hmmmm
  14. That will be a bit broken....
  15. Looks like that those are stress related. I.e someone has applied a fair bit of pressure to the surface of that at some point - I am guessing the garage. Probably caused by pushing the car in and out of their garage but pushing on the lamp instead of the body. I would be contacting the garage and asking them to replace it.
  16. I got a set of race scales if anyone wants to be sure... No point weighing mine for this test lol
  17. No worries mate, will have happy to take you around.
  18. Done from my Race car FB page
  19. Just had an email from Toyota, my new Diff/Prop coupling is on its way to me and should be with me tomorrow. With the good weather and longer evenings I will be able to fit the balanced prop, sort the oil line and get some descent test drives done this week. I may be back out on track sooner than I think. As I go to Goodwood a lot If you want to either join me on track or want to spectate then these are some potential dates you may want to note down. I will need to confirm these dates first though so keep an eye out. Anyway the dates are the 8th, 24th, 31st of August and the 21st September. There will be other tracks as well this year but I need to confirm what dates I can run on which tracks (due to noise limits etc). In the meantime If you wish to be a passenger in the car at one of the Goodwood days then please let me know in advance and I will make sure I will keep a session free so I can take you out around the track. Even though passengers are FOC at Goodwood you will still need to sign a indemnity form before you are allowed out. - I will keep you posted on which dates I am booked in. I am also introducing a new rule, as the car is pretty savage in cornering, braking and accelerating, the fact its very noisy and hot it also smells of oil and fuel (as does most race cars) some of the passengers do end up feeling a little ill... On my last track day It was very difficult to hear someone shouting at the top of their voice saying they felt ill, so If you do end up in the car and start to feel a little ill or want me to stop then let me know by tapping me on the arm, I will then slow down my pace and come in, but please do so if and when you start to feel ill, no good telling me just before you are about to throw chunks in your helmet..
  20. Yeah exactly, the fire proofing material was acting as a wick and it was the oil in it that was burning off. To let you know it kept burning for around 3 mins. You say that it was doubtful that it would have caught fire however Car oil has a Auto Ignition temp of around 350-400'c (Auto Ignition is the heat you need for it to self combust without the need of a spark or flame) so it resting on the exhaust manifold which is in excess of 700'c provides a really high danger of it Auto Igniting. The issue is then that it will catch the leaking oil hose and then you have a fully sustainable oil fire...
  21. A bit of a close call it seems. Did some more work on the car this weekend while I am waiting for my new Diff/Prop coupling to arrive from Belgium. I decided to investigate the source of a small oil leak I discovered after my last track day, After removing all the turbo induction pipes etc to get a clearer view of the suspect area I noticed that the fireproof heat shielding on the Turbo oil return hose had seen better days so I decided to replace it, So I took it off and not only did it need replacing it also showed where I have the oil leak. The shielding material was completely saturated in oil and was resting on against the exhaust manifold as well. Once I get the car oil drained down with I will replace the entire hose and all associated fittings (cannot be to careful). To give you an idea on how dangerous this was I took a little video of the material once I touched it for less than a second with a match... the flame only had to touch it and it went up very quickly. [video=youtube;bAU3S-Edqx0]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAU3S-Edqx0 I know I have a fire suppression system in the car but that's not the point... So I have been wondering how long have I been out on track on borrowed time!! If you have fireproof shielding on any oil hoses please make sure you do regular checks to see if they are seeping oil, I was unaware of an oil leak until it got to the point the material could not soak up any more and started dripping on the flat floor. A picture of how the engine bay now looks...
  22. If i can get mine sorted and get the car transported up then I will be up for this
