  1. I'm going to reserve judgement until its actual release, its another 6-8 months before it actually goes on sale, as we know lots can change in that sort of time in terms of power, looks and trim. Yes Toyota are saying this is the production model (the chassis and basic design may be) but if Toyota were 100% serious in keeping certain aspects of the car the same (such as the bodywork) there would be no need to put it in camo...I cant help but think Toyota are doing this soft unveil to gauge their market, its been almost 20 years since the last MKIV rolled off the line, since then Toyota have been making generic boxes and I include the GT86 in that, it is just OK, its not something to shout about. I feel they are uncertain which route to take with the car, should it be shouty and loud and with fins and wings, or should it be a bit more subtle etc. From the feedback so far on Toyota UK Facebook etc, the general consensus is that the car looks bland/weak compared to the FT1 concept and the Gazoo racing version released not a few months ago. The thing is its hard to tell when its in the camo, the lines, details and features are very hard to make out even in the flesh. Power wise I have heard its between 340-380hp depending on where you hear the info however the general consensus it should be around 400-450bhp.. bodywork and engine power (Especially turbocharged which this will be if its using a new BMW engine) can be changed easily. When I first saw it in Camo I must admit I was disappointed too, I was expecting to see something reminiscent of the MKIV with a mashup of their current design (like the FT1). From as far as I know they only have a few of these demo camo cars, I don't think they have settled on the final look exterior wise or at least what options you are going to be given to make it how you want (remember the MKIV without the skirts, spats, lips & spoiler etc was pretty bland looking). We don't even know if there are going to be a choice of engines etc, agreed they have said it will be an inline 6 with RWD and the power is around 340bhp but who knows, that statement could be the basic entry engine something like a 2.5 Turbo, They may offer a larger capacity inline 6 engine with 500bhp... I do agree that Toyota have messed up this release, what with the drawings, popping up and teasing a "new Supra" for at least 5 years. They have hyped it up to the point where people expectations for this car are very high, IMO they are scared they wont be able to live up to the hype they have created and therefore are doing this softly softly launch to change last moment things which will address the major issues before release. Put it this way, if they really mess up this car, our cars will be worth more as the last Iconic Toyota carring the Supra name.
  2. As DNK said if you used a card then get in touch with the issuer and process a reverse charge. Or use MCOL - Money Claim online (https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome) a bit more long winded but they will cough up either way.
  3. innuendos?? Braking ability comes down to how much traction you have with the road (i.e tyres) and how the brakes are applied (Bias) its repeat braking ability you need to address. You could have a 30 pot caliper and a 500mm disc with crap tyres and it wont brake anywhere near as hard as a stock brakes with good tyres. The more you stick the more energy is put through the brakes.
  4. She's back together, last few things to get her sorted and she will finally be out on track very soon. If you have been wondering why shes been in bits, well quite frankly put there a number of things on the car which I was not happy with, stuff that had been rushed, bodged and well not really thought out. I have been spending what time I have had between a new baby girl and running a business to work on her so hence why there have been no updates or much news. The kind of things which have been rectified... Fire risk.. the car had a high risk of fire before especially as the car has a flat floor which basically seals everything in. Firstly, we had a single wall fuel aluminum fuel tank with no penetration protection apart from baffle foam. This has been changed to an ATL racing bladder tank with external cage and Aluminum case, we also have internal baffle foam, internal collector, external swirl pot, two internal walbro 255ltr pumps and a external Bosch 044 with an inline one way valve to the rail, the tank also has a one way filler neck which means in the event of a crash fuel does not come back out of the filler cap (if it was to be damaged). The second major fire risk was the oil return on the Turbo, something that I found out while on track. I had a funny sweet smell coming from inside the car as well as a odd oily mist on the inside of the windscreen, after coming in and looking in the engine bay it was clear that the turbo drain was resting on the hot manifold and was leaking oil. This has now been redesigned with a hard pipe which bypasses the hot manifold and into a AN10 fitting and hose to the sump. This means that there should be no issue with a potential oil fire there. Wiring loom, this one is ongoing, and something which I will be addressing fully over the winter with an entire loom overhaul, for now though I have been removing unused connections which have been left hanging, freeing up space and weight and making everything look much neater also less chance of having a dodgy connection too. Also been getting rid of solder joints where I can and replacing them with proper Souriau fittings with crimped connections and Raychem spec 55 wire and sleeving etc. Gearbox, as you know I installed a Quaife 69G sequential box on the car, this has been fine however we were getting some teething issues with it, turns out the adapter plate had been made very slightly out of spec and was causing some minor issues, so the box had to come off everything measured again and put back, the box was also inspected for damage for which I am glad to say there was none so all left to do again is bleed the clutch and set the pedal limit again and we should all be good. Exhaust, the entire exhaust has been lagged from the down pipe to the rear silencers, this is to reduce the heat inside the car when shes running (amongst the other benefits of lagging an exhaust) I have seen temps of over 40°c when in the car and that is very uncomfortable when trying to go fast, especially when the windows don't wind down. Further cockpit cooling has been added via a carbon roof vent, this meant cutting a hole in the carbon roof (was not too happy about that) I don't think I have measured something so much to make sure its spot on. This has helped massively with keeping the car cooler inside. Redundant parts : I decided to have a good look around the engine bay for redundant parts and found plenty, Mainly water hoses for an old turbo, after removing these hoses I saved an additional 4KG of weight and the engine bay looks less cluttered. Badly positioned Items : I have also spent a lot of time moving badly positioned items in the engine bay, mainly things that would be effected by heat, having unnecessarily long hoses and wires because of the position etc. Its amazing how much time this takes. So finally the car is in a position where there would be no reason for a fire like there was before, it should be more reliable with the changes I have made, so now I can now go and have fun on the track knowing that I have done everything with the car possible to keep it running right.
  5. If its good as I think its going to be, then I may look at getting one
  6. I get asked this alot when people look at the car so thought I would make a graphic about what each button does on our steering wheel - (Sorry for all the company branding). Just thought I'd share it with you lot
  7. Anyone had any experiance with Garagewolf? https://garagewolf.com/products/thick-wall-turbo-manifold-t4-2jz-gte
  8. Have you got a picture of how far the turbo sits forward? Ideally the turbo needs to come forward a little on mine as its very tight, thank you for the link
  9. Thought I would do a quick update. Had to take take the turbo off again as I have a failed EGT probe and as the engine is so far back I am not about to take the engine out to get to it, so whilst the turbo is off I find myself for the 2nd time staring at the god awful XS Power monstrosity that they somehow call an a exhaust manifold. The thing is I am not sure if I can actually make myself put it all back together keeping that POS on the car. At the moment funds are a little short, we have a baby girl about to enter into our lives (less than 5 weeks away) so we have been spending all our money on things like "travel systems" and all that...flippin bucks ££££'s We all know that the Whifbitz manifolds are good, but right at this moment I cant afford to go and splash £1400 on a manifold. So I am in the market as it were for a good 2nd hand Whifbitz manifold or something similar (if anyone knows any for sale) While all that is off, I also decided to wrap the downpipe and center sections of the exhaust with Titanium wrap (dunno why they call it that, there is no Titanium in it), although I fgure that if I am about to change the exhaust manifold the downpipe is also going to have to change (doh!) Lastly, also going to sort the oil drain, that thing is a mess and always has been asking for a fire, so going for a hardline instead of whatever that mess is, I will update images as we go. The other thing is there are so many extra water feeds etc that are no longer used in the engine bay, probably because the car had a water cooled turbo before and when they were swapped for the Turbo for the one that is on it now never took the time to remove all the additional water lines etc. Removing this clutter will save weight and possibly make the engine bay look a little nicer too, although asthetics are not on my list of things to worry about.
  10. Just thought id mention it. In conversation street they have a small segment on the replacement for the BMW Z4, they also mention the new Supra and show the usual images we have all seen, but they explain it is the same car in a different body (which they all prefer). Price point is between £40-£60k apparantly... (probably the higher end).
  11. If you are asking "do I only post because of an ego massage"... no I don't, you could not be further from the truth... Also I find that a quite a loaded question.. Picture this... you are with a bunch of petrol head mates at a pub, you bring up the subject of what you have been doing to your car over the weekend or whatever only to be met with utter silence... do you carry on talking about "yourself and what you done" or do you shut the hell up because no one seems to be interested... hmmm let me think. You are not going to bother to continue talking about it are you. Let not forget the definition of a Forum - "a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged" i.e conversation... It does not mean - "a record of hard work and expense".
  12. I don't use the Facebook site for the Supra club and probably never will, I have always thought if you are a car enthusiast then you go to that dedicated forum where the forum/club is paid for by the members of that club, not some free for all, everyone is welcome Facebook rubbish. At least with a forum you get people dedicated to the cause. That said, I have been a member of this forum for over a decade and in the last 3 years I have seen a massive decline in not only active members but people who I would consider to be supra enthusiasts (maybe that is just my view on things). I even stopped posting on my build thread because the response I was getting was pretty crap, it got to the point where I felt there was no point in spending up to an hour or more writing and posting images of what I have been up to with the car during the week or weekend. I think an overhaul of this site could be good, no offense to the mods, but there has not been a change on here in 12+ years I have been on here, same images, same layout, its all looking very very dated now and is not going to attract new owners if the site looks like on first glance it was made 15 odd years ago. I mean you look at the bottom of the site, no one has even bothered to update the "MKIV Supra owners club copy write date statement since 2012. I would love to continue to share the development of my Supra, I have some pretty amazing things in development for it but I am discouraged to put anything up because of lack of interest and attention from the members, mods and traders. Traders, there used to be a time you would be posting every day and bending over backwards to help fellow club enthusiasts, I can only think of one trader that does that now..
  13. Hi All. I need to rent/borrow a car trailer for a few hours this weekend to move a mates car (BMW E36 328) I have the B+E qualification and a 4x4 so am fully legal to tow. I know there are a few rental companies, however they want to do the rental over an entire weekend and really I only need it for 2-3 hours. If anyone can help maybe in the Southampton or Basingstoke areas, can you drop us a PM.
  14. I may get the Race car out and show it off.. wont be dragging it though.. not setup for that How much is a trade stand? My business is not Supra specific but racing in general.
  15. I had them on my Silver Supra, came on when unlocking... also if you pull the handle it will come on too.
  16. Hi all, I am upgrading my headunit in my Nissan Pathfinder and this is now for sale. I know this headunit has been fitted in our beloved Supra's with no issues IIRC. It has done me well these last few years and is quite a nice head unit. Screen is fine, no dead pixels no scratches, all buttons work as well as the touchscreen. 7" WVGA capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 800 pixels x 480 pixels and multi-touch operation. FM/AM radio tuner with RDS Direct control for iPod/iPhone Built-in Bluetooth® for hands-free calling with phone book access, dial pad. Built-in MOSFET 50W x 4 amplifier, Easy EQ preset equalizer, 5-band graphic equalizer, subwoofer control, and two sets of RCA preouts (2V) for system expansion. External GPS antenna for improved positioning accuracy Rear-view camera input Appradio 3 with Mirrorlink As this was used with an Android phone it will come with the CD-AH200C which allows you to be able to connect an Android phone to the unit (which was an extra £50 at the time!) Never let me down sounds good, easy to use. The appradio app on the phone takes a little getting used to but once you have it its easy to setup and use the various apps (Sat nav, etc) I dont have the Iphone accessories for this I am afraid, however they can be picked up on ebay for next to nothing. Also the original box and stereo cage is missing (as the car it came out of didnt need a cage). The instructions can be found here - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...ERATION+MANUAL I am looking for £120 (SOLD) I have listed on other forums so first come first served. Cheers everyone.
  17. If it were my Teg.. I would be going this route Shame my wife is not a all out racer (she likes track days but a nice comfortable car). Shame as its well priced for a rolling race shell.
