  1. Cheers I will be updating over the weekend as I progress. I will also pop up a little how to on installing the Teflon fittings as well.
  2. Not particularly, apart from the obvious advantages in ease of use (swivel fittings) I would imagine its down to weight saving only really and the fact companies standardise on it - unless someone else can quantify it. I am using teflon hose and teflon fittings as this is only to keep the smell of fuel down in the car.
  3. Ha yeah, I guess its easier that way, probably a bit more cost effective too However you know me I like to give things a go
  4. More AN teflon fuel fittings arrived last night. I have more on the way as well... must have spent a cool fortune of these so far https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/t1/1920083_599710773436903_1311798588_n.jpg I did also get the vice clamp attachments so I can install the fittings properly without damaging the nice anodized coating..
  5. Tracks closest to you will be Brands Hatch, Dunsfold Park (top gear track), Abingdon & Lydden Hill. Out of those Brands Hatch is the best track IMO, however Abingdon would be the best if you have not done a day before. Abingdon isn't really a circuit, its a airfield which is made into a circuit using cones, this means lots of runoff which is great for getting used to the cars limits. These days are also at the "cheaper" end as well, offers lots of thrills with not many spills. That said as its not an actual track you don't get the feeling you have been on an actual racing circuit and therefore dampens the day a little... well it does me anyway. Brands is a fantastic circuit, however it is actually quite technical, there are some tricky bends and elevations, not to say that you shouldn't give it a go, but if you do just go at a pace you feel comfortable with. There are some good run off area's however if you watch the BTCC you will know there are a number of areas where the barriers are much closer then you think.
  6. Cheers guys, looking forward to getting it back up and running. Can't wait to get it back out on track.
  7. Done some more to the cage today and also started to do final fittings. unfortunately not all the fuel line fittings arrived in time for today so was unable to start actual installation, but even so it's starting to look like progress. Fitted and welded the steel mounting section for the pumps and swirl pot https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1/1891201_598250700249577_269343579_n.jpg Getting ready for paint https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1798555_598250723582908_1237886267_n.jpg Painted https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1798628_598250776916236_197502695_n.jpg Mocking up mounting locations https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/t1/1902939_598250820249565_329762502_n.jpg Installed fuel tank container into cage https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/t1/1622622_598250850249562_1100800389_n.jpg Test fitted the fuel cell https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1901373_598250893582891_165573351_n.jpg Test fitted the lid - all fits perfect https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/t1/1654469_598250953582885_1228101066_n.jpg Changed the stock outlet fitting from a AN -6 to an -8 fitting with a Y connector for internal Walbro pumps https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/t1/1966886_598251023582878_1994419655_n.jpg Bosch 044 in its new mount with the Anti return valve fitted https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1920104_598251076916206_437612048_n.jpg And that's all I could really do today as I started getting a crazy bad headache....
  8. Got my new swirl pot and anti return valve today, just waiting for some AN fittings and some new braided fuel lines now. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1/1959721_596084933799487_1862275410_n.jpg
  9. Cheers I already have a rain light, I am going to be putting it in the Fog light part of the rear lights. I will Have a center plate between the two lights with a ATL filler on it and a vent for the tank. Probably wont get a chance to do that though until later on. For now I will fill the tank directly by fitting a hatch on the firewall.
  10. Started to work on simplifying and sorting out the fuel pump wiring today. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/t1/1780727_595114783896502_488846990_n.jpg After, old loom removed, currently making new fuel pump loom. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1/1932304_595114850563162_1411857349_n.jpg
  11. Ah that's cool. The only thing is Dry break fuel systems like that, cost mega bucks. Your probably looking at £2k all in... and thats just for the filler caps (£700), filler probe (also £700) and fuel bottle (£500+) Shame as it does look good but I don't think I can stretch to that sort of money just to fill the tank I may do a similar style but have a single filler hole.
  12. Correct, It was up on the C Pillar. This will be removed and filled back in. I am not sure where exactly I am going to fit the filler unit, If I cant decide by the time I am due out on track then I will have a hatch on the firewall (Which is still within guidelines) so I can fill the tank directly.. although thats a bit of a Faff.. Having the filler between the two lights would be awesome, I will need to look into that a little further I think
  13. I will be making either a plate of carbon or Aluminum sheet to fill the gaps like it was before. Correct, I will be making a flat firewall to go over the entire rear section to cover the tank and seal the boot area in. Shame to cover it all up really. Ah well - - - Updated - - - Cheers
  14. Added some heat reflective tape to the underside of the tank container. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1/1620577_592371294170851_1092309759_n.jpg I also added some spacers on the tank cage but I didn't get a picture of that. Just need to weld the cage into the car, paint it and then I can get on with getting the fuel system back together
  15. Did some more work on the fuel tank cage yesterday. https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1622154_591825524225428_2143619982_n.jpg https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1/1780678_591825577558756_1250196508_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1780708_591825634225417_1525366449_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1898025_591825667558747_941431931_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1/1656173_591825714225409_519076569_n.jpg Will be making some mounts this afternoon to make the tank nice and level in the car, then I can paint the cage, pop heat reflection tape on the underside of the tank container.
  16. This is true, due to the engine position, extensive chassis changes its only eligible for a couple of series if that. Time Attack is one of them, Euro saloons have said they will need to have a look at it but 750MC would just flat refuse it. I can take comfort in the fact its almost as useless for racing as a Zonda R I have been doing work to it to satisfy TA and ES but Every other series requires a bit more of the Original chassis Good luck with it mate If you want you are welcome to use my Hubstands, Geo lines kit and corner weighting setup if you wish.
  17. I think a few run them on here, They need a bit of machining to get right but nothing a Dremel cant fix. I am sure someone did a guide on here on it.
  18. Well done mate Nice and close to Circuit of wales when its built.
  19. For those who have Twitter, I now have a Twitter account in case you want to follow updates that way
