  1. Fitted my bonnet hinges and carbon bonnet lifters last night, this should make it a little easier at the track for under bonnet checks instead of removing bonnet every time (as you need two people for that). Its not added much weight... maybe a whole 1KG but for the hassle of quick checks its well worth it. https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/t1.0-9/1173613_610278999046747_81950223_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/t1.0-9/1098275_610279022380078_603389706_n.jpg
  2. Is that the M4 system Chris? I have heard wonderus things about that.
  3. Yes this is called threshold braking, something that you have to get used to. I don't have any ABS or servo assistance on my track car so I have to use this technique when I am breaking hard into a corner, the fact I don't have a servo makes the control of this easier. This is basically when you feel the wheels start to lose adhesion with the road and you very slightly lift off so you get maximum braking without locking the wheels. This with a servo is possible of course but the pressure you apply to the pedal via a servo is greatly exaggerated and therefore a little more tricky.
  4. Porting is port matching, this makes sure the ports (say on your intake and your head) don't have any overlap between them which can cause turbulence. Polishing is also referred to as Gas flowing, this basically removes the imperfections and casting lumps etc to enable free flowing gas through the system. Doing just they Y pipe and throttle body may give a couple of BHP if any, Really you would need to do the whole intake system (Throttle body, Plenum and stack) the head (inlet, exhaust ports and valve faces) and the exhaust manifold done to gain a few BHP
  5. ABS does not necessarily make you stop any faster per se... its stops you locking the wheels and loosing control. The speed in which ABS assisted brakes slows you down vs threshold braking for example will depend on what environment you are braking in. Personally I would not remove it on a Road car, for example if a kid suddenly runs out in front of your car, you will panic and will stamp hard on the brakes and try and turn out of the way, which with a ABS assisted car will do. If you don't have ABS in this situation you can try and turn all you want but the car will just lock the wheels and continue straight and run the kid over.
  6. Ha yeah, tell me about it, I did manage to wangle a deal with all the fittings and hoses but even with the discount it still came to a small fortune for sure. However its still well worth it in my mind, now in the event of a rear end shunt the tank wont split and pour gallons of fuel over what would be a very hot exhaust - which is a bonus.
  7. Lol, Yeah I had to cut it short as I needed to check if there were any leaks, although it was all fine and well. Longer vids to come, This one was just to test the fuel lines for leaks etc. Now onto getting the entire area sealed from the outside and constructing a carbon firewall.
  8. She Lives again First start with new fuel system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwYRsCXn91s
  9. I know I stuck this up in the wanted section but I thought I may get more views on this thread. I need to either purchase or borrow some boot lid hinges for the car. I need to measure the stock ones up and make up some lightweight billet Aluminum versions
  10. Sorted all the in tank electrics and pumps today, also sorted the external relays and fuses. 11. Well the wife is off to Thailand now for a week for a girly getaway, which means I can spend a lot more time in the workshop Should be able to clock some good time in workshop for getting the car ready for the year
  12. Yeah cheers I will contact them and see what they can do cant hurt eh although if I am being honest even though what they do at AR is really top notch stuff I will probably stick with Ikeya unless AR comes in more cost effective. Still... a little bit of research wont matter Do you have a good contact at AR?
  13. Cheers dude. Yeah, Hopefully will be heading back to Goodwood for a testing/track day on the 15th
