  1. So did a quick visual look between calls and noticed that one of the injector plugs is cracked. Not sure if that would cause the issue I am having as if it was an electrical connection issue I thought I would see the opposite (lean) as the injector would not fire... In any case it needs replacing... Anyone have the part number for this plug? And maybe thoughts if this could be the cause of the issue? Planning to do some more tests today on it. The Wideband I have got is proper old now so I am going to replace it anyway as its seen better days. As I do not want to damage the piston rings/cylinders due to borewash I am not going to start the car again until I have sorted that connector and replaced the wideband. Then at least if that has not sorted the issue then I will rip apart the intake remove the injectors and get them cleaned and flow tested as it could only be an injector issue.
  2. Cheers guys, some things to test there. along with some great info. I will check to see if at least all the injectors are making noise when actuated as suggested as then I will know if there is one which is not responding at all. If there is one that is not responding i'll test the Injector harness plug to see if there is any voltage going to it in case there is an issue with the loom. I will also do the rag test with the AFR sensor. I will update this thread as we go. I will have a good look on Monday. If anyone else has any suggestions please feel free to mention them.
  3. One thing I dont get though is why is everyone expecting Toyota to do a Nissan GTR style car? The Supra was never Toyota's answer to the Nissan R33 GTR it was a reply to Porsche and Ferrari at the time. So why would they do one now??
  4. It will also do wonders for the value of Stock MKIV examples
  5. I think we just need to wait until its out and then make decisions on the facts rather than all the smoke and mirrors rubbish that Toyota are doing at the moment. If Toyota have hyped the car up too much then not only would they have shot themselves in the foot massively, they will be forced to either bring a replacement model out within 3 years or completely can the project completely. We know there are going to be at least 3 engine choices and possibly a Super-sport (Gazoo Road Racing) version of it, probably a year after the release date. This is so they can resell it to the public with a more aggressive race inspired styling, carbon, higher HP and all the niggles ironed out. Yep the Styling is a little odd and its a little more GT86 then we would like, does not mean this will be the only new Supra Toyota produce from 2019 onwards. Didn't I hear that the blasted camo wrap is coming off this month anyway?
  6. What like if one is stuck open? if it was a stuck injector, would my fuel pressure regulator gauge be all over the place? What happens right now is when I switch the ignition on the fuel pumps operate as per normal and the fuel pressure goes up to just below 40psi right away and stays there until the pump switches off, the fuel pressure then tails off as per normal. When the car is running it just sits there at just below 40psi and does not move. If I had a free flowing/intermittant injector then surely I would see more movement on the FPR gauge as it tries to regulate? I hope its not a stuck injector, that is going to be a right pain to sort with the engine position where it is lol Also I dont want to Hydrolock the engine if I do have a stuck open injector.
  7. Seems that I have a little AFR Gremlin. Decided to start the car up today to make sure all is well before I take her out in a few weeks. On idle it was running fine but noticed a high fuel smell, looked at the AFR gauge and its realing 10.2 on idle??? Checked the syvecs software where it also shows the same, then it suddenly it jumps to 13.8/14.2 for a few seconds revs increase very slightly (notice a tone change) and then back to 10.2 where it stays for the most of the time... if you pop the revs quickly and let it return to idle sometimes the AFR goes back to high 13's low 14's for a few seconds but then ends up going back to the 10's again. I have looked at the Map sensor when the car is off and its reading 1025mb which is about correct for Atmospheric pressure and when the car is runnig it goes down to around 530 which is about right IIRC with a slight fluctuation with the rev change. Fuel pressure seems ok at just below 40psi, I am really not sure what could be causing the issue. Given the wideband is providing a reading I am guessing its OK... but then it could be failing as its getting on now. Can anyone else suggest anything to check?
  8. I may go as its just up the road from me, wont be in the Supra though they only allow road legal cars to be shown.
  9. Here we have my Logitech G27 Steering Wheel + Pedals & Shifter The unit is fully working, no damage comes with all cables, pedals, gearstick section etc. Does not come with the Software but this can be downloaded from this link - https://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/g27-racing-wheel/downloads# I am only selling due to upgrading to a Thrustmaster TX I would like to point out that no children have used this so it has not been abused if you catch my drift... I am looking for £120 + P&P
  10. Paisley freight https://www.paisleyfreight.com/
  11. When I had a road supra the Conti Sport Contact 5's were great.
  12. Most people that require a full rebuild, rebuild with higher spec components (forced upgrades), so cost wise it depends what you want to do while its apart (if it needs rebuilding of course). Even if it is worse case you may not need an entire rebuild. Remember you have a MKIV Supra.. a name which is identified as a benchmark Japanese car, I don't ever remember hearing a 300zx, 350 or 370z being referred to as benchmark car, just OK...
  13. I had a precision engineer make a brand new woodruff key to fit the damaged slot on the crank (it was not that badly damaged but needed sorting). Once that was done, we installed a new crank pulley and crank pulley bolt, torqued it down to spec and it was perfect. Cost me a fair whack though to have that key made.
  14. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE BLUETOOTH MODULE. Condition : As new but Used (Car power supply still sealed) only used a couple of times. This allows you to connect to the Syvecs ECU via Wi-FI instead of plugging in a Ethernet cable each time. Range of 50 metres Happy to post for cost. Comes with USB Cable and Car power supply module. £100 +P&P You are welcome to pickup from Romsey Hampshire if you wish.
  15. Have you checked the crank pully is fully tight? I had something similar once and it turned out to be a loose crank pully. Would make sense as you have had a new oil pump etc. Here is my issue I had 10 years ago with my first Supra - http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?144238-Oh-no-knocking-HELP-ME&highlight=crank The videos of course do not work.
  16. Hi All, Trying to find the source of a small fluid leak on my PAS pump and noticed that the air control valve on the pump has two hose connections, only of which one is connected. I cant imagine this is the cause of the leak as only air should be in those lines however I just wanted to get a second opinion. Any help would be great.
  17. Fair enough, perhaps moron was too harsh to use to get my point across. We are always going to get people doing things that are unexpected and out of the usual line of thinking and that is fine, but I got the impression that putting a 2JZ in a new Supra was a Knee Jerk reaction and it needed to be quashed as quickly as possible as something simply stupid to do
  18. In my personal opinion I think Toyota have done this soft launch because they don't know how to market the car due to the current Supra ownership, its a mixture of people who have one either because they are enthusiasts or people who have one because they can now afford a MKIV due to its age. Just think, if there were iterations of the Supra every 5 years or so then there would be an established market and Toyota would know exactly what to do in terms of spec, design etc as they would have an established customer base with lots of feedback etc. Its been 17 years since the last Supra rolled out of the factory. Since then the car has gotten older and the type of person who now owns the car is very different to the original buyer. Let me explain, when the car was new you had new buyers with money buying the car at RRP, after a few years you start to get people who couldn't afford a new one buy second hand off people who could afford them new and so on and so fourth. There has been more than 20 years of that. So now the customer "base" for the MKIV Supra is for people who realistically would never have been able to afford a new Supra when it was launched, I know very few who bought a Supra new and still have it. Now I cant say that for all Supra owners, an awful lot of us are enthusiasts and will spend more looking after or modding the MKIV than buying a new car (I know I do) but I would say that the majority of current Supra owners bought the Supra because its a damn nice car and now its at the price point of being affordable. So can you see Toyota's problem, how do they market this car, do they pander to the masses who could not afford to purchase a new Supra anyway or do they try something new to bring in the first buyers of the Supra (i.e the ones that sold them more than 12-15 years ago). If it were me, then I would do a soft launch - Like they have, that is listen to feedback from both types of customer i.e the masses and the enthusiasts (hence goodwood and a separate launch for the club) and then build plans on how to keep both the new buyers happy but also keep the car desirable to those who cant afford it now but will be able to in 5 years time say. I am guessing we will see 2 or 3 "normal models" with different trim and engine options (to pander to all markets) and some sort of Special Edition GR version perhaps a year later - Which is the one you will want to buy. The first half of 2019 is still quite a way away... lots can happen in terms of styling, power etc.. Put it this way if Toyota were 100% happy with the car and it was going to remain the same "look" and not be changed.. why put it in Camo..
  19. Yeah I heard he said that, I'm guessing his reply was in a sort of exasperated way rather than actual advice though. I know I would be. If I was chief designer/engineer who had been working on the car for probably the last 5 years and had some random say put a 2JZ in it, I would probably come out with something similar as him but probably wouldnt be able to hide the sarcasm
  20. I am not sure I catch your drift, My Supra has the same engine it was born with? Yes it has had a huge amount of work done on it and its still being developed (money pit) to make it a fast circuit car, If you are talking about modding to make the car unique or to change its original purpouse, then that is different. What I am talking about is people for example taking the new 4 pot Supra and putting a 25 year old 2JZ in it and then calling it better, it simply isnt, just go for the larger engine??
  21. Blimey the final specs and model variants have not even be officially released and we have people saying they are going to put a 2JZ in the MK5  remember its not being officially released until 2019.... 2019!! I am starting to feel embarrassed in front of Toyota now, this is making the Supra community look like a bunch of feckless morons. ffs putting a 25 year old, heavy iron breather in the modern version of the car... come on.. anyone who winds up doing that is clearly a moron. We don't know half of the final details or what they have planned. If the new rendering images are close to the final thing then that is not a bad thing, I personally quite like the look... but will have to see the final car in the flesh (not with a load of camo on it) and see what styling options there are for it.
  22. I knew there would be different engine options, hope for a 400+hp version will be alive then, if not right now as a special edition at least.
