  1. Ah fantastic glad it was helpful. Yeah gearbox is going to plan, just sorting the prop out now.
  2. I'm in two minds at the moment. I may give the cheaper option a try first (Accusump) I cant justify another £4k after spending what I have on the car in the last couple of months lol.
  3. As others have said a dry sump is only really for track/drag cars where the g force, lateral or longitudinal is high enough to pull the oil away from the pickup in the stock sump. or lowering the engine to keep the COG as low as possible, Dry sumps afaik dont really save on weight as you still need to have a oil reservoir, then there is the actual pump, lines etc which will all add up. That said there are other solutions over having a dry sump such as the Accusump system which uses a reserve of oil to feed the oil pump in the event the oil in the sump gets pulled away from the pickup. This is a cheaper cost (not £4k) however the units are pretty large. Dry sump kits do look sexy as though..
  4. Does anyone have access to a vacuum forming machine? I need some clear 9600 spec Polycarbonate sheeting formed over a mold. This is so I can visually check the transmission tunnel on a race day without having to take all the flat floor off, in case of any issues etc. It will also be nice to see all the pneumatics for the air shifter on the gearbox doing its job as well If anyone can help that'l be grand
  5. There isn't much you can do if your car takes off, although its not much consolation for the driver. Hurting or killing a spectator is going to make you feel terrible. I feel for the driver and for the family of the spectators. RIP.
  6. Yeah, I am going to check to see what I have installed already tonight.
  7. OK so the gearbox is in and bolted up Giken clutch ready to go in. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/11081180_808713042536674_1608711826244533721_n.jpg?oh=4f96753ab1a386963188ca79426a69ac&oe=55B8E58C&__gda__=1437914173_ca723459e60d89dfd917c1dd1387c737 Clutch basket and flywheel https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/10995533_808713135869998_4670950730500240699_n.jpg?oh=409adfefd24044d8d11f6033b86e1844&oe=55AA9DD1&__gda__=1437423200_7ce1b3c0dcab6098c5c8da0699f621dc Mounted to car https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/11062788_808713202536658_2494356592931586191_n.jpg?oh=041bfabc6f5c48925641e39a506b6fea&oe=55B8D0C1&__gda__=1437806071_433ea73728fe0d8cfdc9e3ffb65e7920 Clutch Installed https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/11070093_808713275869984_4714800846663218798_n.jpg?oh=68ad5c6ca3a1c8922770b6ee82727d67&oe=55B858F6&__gda__=1438028786_a5813178a917d2e130d57974601b932e Gearbox mounted https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11055393_808713322536646_8583121601979163355_n.jpg?oh=94dcc4172af2696482bbf7b45bae6ce5&oe=55AB2385&__gda__=1433907724_8971752dbcc903e6aa3bf9937a61757a Another angle of the box with a photo bomb of one of my mates. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/10150632_808713412536637_4530660320804363191_n.jpg?oh=1fc2bcb1551516aefad57faf3f2a8a21&oe=55B0A51A&__gda__=1433478700_008d13145787d960ff5d058b648d5181 New position of the box https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/10734060_808713515869960_7549983955324444098_n.jpg?oh=0f424f3524af66d4e72625c82be31680&oe=55A2ED94 Another side shot https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11081214_808713639203281_5696230586484427462_n.jpg?oh=763f4421f7933a0714cd288e040eb1a3&oe=5570E078&__gda__=1437560305_40303a5e95f6ef6c52a9614de35f9aab
  8. So if you can open it from the other side... why wasn't it.. Unless when its in the lock position it overrides the keypad entry, however after 5 mins the lock position cancels, which means he should have been able to gain access.
  9. Looking good mate Should be a nice build.
  10. Tell me about it I am soon going to be on a 2 long haul and 3 short flights going around Vietnam and Cambodia... I'm not a great flyer anyway.. I'll admit that, I need to shut my eyes and put my head back when taking off and landing (although the acceleration is fun on take off). This sort of thing does not help.. (not that my feelings matter with regards to this tragedy)
  11. My mind can understand things like this happening by terrorists based on extremist religious beliefs or whatever, my mind seems to put that together easier, (not that the fact that terrorism is easier to accept because its not). However when this happens for no obvious reason and no obvious motive I cannot fathom why someone would kill themselves and hundreds of others for what... suicide? if you want to kill yourself do it alone.. why take innocent people out with you? It makes me sad that there are people out there that plan to do this, what for? fame.... it cant be.. My mind simply cannot process a reason for this, I am just simply baffled and feel desperately for everyone effected by this. RIP to all the people who died needlessly because of this terrible act.
  12. Ha, yeah I was thinking that the other day, loads of material on there that could be removed easily enough. I was happier coming to get it as well to be honest, was cheaper as well, if something had of happened with a courier it would have delayed things further. The drive wasn't too bad in the end, 7 hours all in all, Ended up getting home around 2pm and falling asleep on the sofa though.
  13. Cheers, getting the Giken clutch on next.. quick question actually, flywheel bolts.. do I need to use any Threadlock? Also what torque should these be? I seem to be absent any documentation from Giken with regards the clutch :-S
  14. Would love to see this at the track
  15. Nah... :ecstatic::ecstatic::ecstatic: :nana::nana::nana:
  16. It is still lighter but there is not much in it, once you include all the looms, adapters, hoses, fittings, pump etc, I have yet to do a final weigh in but on paper I dont think there more than 2kg in it. Still I never expected a great weight loss from changing the box, its more of the protection it offers to both itself and the engine, not to mention the driveability of the car, quicker shifts vs the V160 and that lovely straight cut whine... - - - Updated - - - Cheers guys
  17. So got the gearbox from Chris after he has done all the work with the release bearing and adapter plate. Was nice to put a face to the name, cheers Chris for all the work you have done on this, I am sure that others will echo my praise. So I started putting the box together after getting it back, Started with fitting the concentric release and adapter plate onto the box https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11081464_806688539405791_4988870916956958361_n.jpg?oh=3c951037feefcf63f85c10b7244a563e&oe=55ABFD53&__gda__=1437755354_3c59bf5db54f3737a82f32574e164325 https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10881525_806688652739113_759184128259629348_n.jpg?oh=5a0bdaeb34c8573ed66d0d3742348d50&oe=55B0D0F4&__gda__=1433802953_87dbd9e58fba0a78258ce756b070b417 Installed the two channel gear position barrel sensor for the geartronics paddle shift kit. https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/11076244_806688716072440_5560675967255566705_n.jpg?oh=e6420a2261d304b216f009d12ec38c63&oe=55A72919&__gda__=1437031080_a0b90e9677679a95424307280418d45d And Finally fitted the bellhousing onto the adapter plate https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11081140_806688792739099_5127574115084839558_n.jpg?oh=a9be2b13e9be2a926c5894b8c5ddac8d&oe=55B7D278 https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11059349_806688889405756_9116170751768921740_n.jpg?oh=b32379b07b6b286bcd47c27b824dc2bc&oe=55B1F4A5&__gda__=1437803215_697682939e6d059e872982bf20e8c229 Now just need to bolt the new clutch onto the engine and test fit the box, so I can make up the rear support bracket. Once that is done I can get the box bolted into place and get the propshaft modified. Its finally coming together.
  18. The custom adapter ring and concentric release bearing setup is now complete, looking forward to getting the box and getting it all together https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-9/10501741_806202839454361_981970619590983948_n.jpg?oh=0a4253aab3a397f2c372930091645368&oe=5573E020&__gda__=1433548137_613ef2d94beef4d43987af54e4d4d12d https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/10393929_806202849454360_1353155341167512587_n.jpg?oh=986db7e30629b6ce694e947b9643fd35&oe=557C1BCD https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/10251907_806202832787695_7812040189531619240_n.jpg?oh=01f9fd3eb169044e9ccc23e4bffb8576&oe=55A79132&__gda__=1433779131_b6326de1f44a6d99284df98c454f2d31 https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11080942_806202846121027_2787429292874608398_n.jpg?oh=03b5bfc830d694f7740d5882671dc5b7&oe=5572105F&__gda__=1433897013_307385db66703fdd90ad09a4a8210885
  19. Sorry for the gap in the updates, there has not really been much I can get on with until I get the gearbox really, well apart from hoses and looms which well is pretty boring... here is a cable, here is a hose... hmmm yay. Chris had now made the adapter ring for the concentric release he had to give us a drawing of it as his camera is on a day out but its looking good. I love stuff thats made properly https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/10926217_804464819628163_2449149103801212364_n.jpg?oh=3265652443db68c3a4b1d1561dd81033&oe=557A918D Should all be coming together very soon. Cheers Chris
