  1. She picks it up on wednesday, Lovley little car MR2 2.0 Turbo Supra's Little Sister
  2. Yeah was going to try the starter motor idea, i mean i think the crank pulley is loose anyway so should not need to much force to loosen it off. - I havent got a locking tool but once the pully is off i can quickly make one up - well hopefully lol. This is just to check the condition of the end of the crank shaft and to make sure i have not destroyed the woodruff key. I dont have a replacement pulley as yet so this is a case of checking whats damaged and putting it all back for a prognosis This will determin that its either a new engine (not going to bother with a bottom end rebuild) or a general repair.
  3. I have got a 26" heavy duty breaker bar so it should do the trick in getting the pully off, i just needed to get a torque wrnch that would go over 300Nm which i now have Although i dont have a 22mm impact socket as yet so going to see if i can get one tomoz
  4. The Smoke is just looks like normal exhaust steam to me on a cold day, the low engine revs and shaking could be down to a misfire which is probably down to the spark plugs, get them changed and see what happens.
  5. Just checked on the torque wrench mine only goes up to 210nm going to have to buy another one now The weather is still quite bad so i doubt i will be able to get this crank pully off today - looks like it going to have to be tomoz
  6. Yeah i have a breaker bar torque wrench, and a gear puller is not that hard to get hold of, looks like i just need to get the 22mm impact socket, Does anyone know the torque spec for the crank pully?
  7. 3 Euro boxes before Jap cars - not worth talking about really.... Civic Type R (EP3) And now the supe .... Story says it all really had the Type R for 8 months .... now had the supra for 3 years ! - longest i have ever owned a car ! Supra is the best hands down although you do miss the refinement of a new interior but thats about it.
  8. Cheers that is a good guide - looks like i am going to have to attempt this tomoz due to sideways sleet and rain Just for some info what size is the nut on the Crank pully, and in the event that all that is needed to sort the problem is to change the pully what is the lbs of Torque needed to tighten the bolt back up (also will i need a new bolt?)
  9. Just a quick question, can you remove the crank pully without removing the cambelt?
  10. Yeah mate, i will let you know, cheers - great club spirit !, i will have a go once the weather clears up a bit (sleeting at the mo) if i get stuck mate i will let you know.
  11. Looking on toyota EPC i cannot see an oil seal for the front of the engine do you mean the thrust washers??
  12. Was going to attempt to do this today but the weather is to bad, so if the snout is not damaged is it a case of putting on a new oil seal and pully?
  13. Hi Mate, i am in chandlers ford next to eastligh
  14. Anyone have a how to on how to remove the crank pully on a Auto?
  15. Do you think it a major failure? i.e new engine time ??
  16. Looks like it is the crank pully, looking at it is vibrating a bit and there seems to be oil behind it - which i would imagine is not good. (just waiting to upload a better quality video of that).
  17. Hi Yeah i am going to check tomorrow, i am not using the car since i heard this sound so whatever damage has been done i am not adding to it. When i checked on the night i heard the sound i could not see the pully wobbling at all but then i was using a torch and it was dark but i didnt check for play in the unit - going to have a fun bank holiday weekend eh ! lol If the worst comes to the worst and i have to buy another engine i would rather buy a low mileage engine for ££££'s one than pay for ££££'s of repairs to a engine which may not be in the best of condition.... But fair play this is the only "possibly" major thing that has gone wrong with the supe, over the 3 years i have had her - and they are not getting any younger.
  18. if this the case is a new crank pully in order or would there be more parts to check?
  19. Will post my findings and better vids on friday thanks for all your help just hope that is nothing as serious as i think
  20. This noise only started recently, however up to this point i have been getting a knocking noise while the car has been in Drive and stationary for a few months i posted this issue a while back where the general comments were that the exhuast was more than likley knocking on the tranmission tunnel or gearbox as there is a common thing apparantly so put it down to that - again no loss in performance or random noises or blips/misfires from the engine. Over the last couple of days i have not really been driving it hard at all. I only noticed the noise when i was at traffic lights and ended up switching the stereo off .. then i heard a knocking noise when the car was in N, i then put it in Drive while stationary and it got alot louder, so not sure if these two noises are linked or just this new one is making the other one seem louder. The noise is engine speed realated but only happens at idle, when you rev to 1k it gets faster about (im guessing as i did not see the rev counter) 2.5 -3k it goes away compleatly, then when you let off it comes back at idle. Your right the video is not great but to be honest the sound is exactly the same, but whats being filmed is the intake cam sprocket (as this seems to be where the noise is coming from or that area anyway) i will see if i can do another video tonight or during the day in friday. I have done lots of searches on the forum for noises etc, some of which i have found that some knocking is due to the Torque converter on the way out, however this is accompanied by slipping of the autobox and odd behaviour and i cant see why if it is the TC why it sounds like it coming from the front of the engine so have dismissed that as an issue. I will try to do the Aux belt check (taking it off etc) and seeing if the noise is still there, if it is then i will take all the covers off the timing belt area and see if i can look at this Cambelt tensioner and see if the noise is coming from that if it is i will get the parts and replace all the tensioners and all belts etc. If i still get the noise and cant locate it i will book it into a garage and see what they can do. Anyone reccomend Toyoda Tech in Southampton at all??
  21. Thanks for this, its typical something like this happens just as i was going to order a nice set of ikeya supension arms for me supe....looks like that will need to go on hold for now... From what you have heard from the video clip does it sound more like the tensioner then a internal issue like big ends
