Manwithsupra's Racing Supra Project thread
ManwithSupra replied to ManwithSupra's topic in mkiv Supra Projects
Ah, they said another member from MKIV came over, it was the only time I decided to have a break and get some late lunch. Yep as you proably now know my father runs a precision engineering company which is where I get all my 2D and 3D CNC work done now, it was a good oppertunity for him to gain some more contacts so I let him come along with a few examples for the duration of the show so he can expand Thanks -

Thought I'd share a picture of the car on our stand at the Autosport show just gone. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xft1/v/t1.0-9/12507245_1675994922680300_7955371054403481859_n.jpg?oh=2068462d1b82a04362a58a627c4f0a7e&oe=574454B4 https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/12509144_1675994949346964_9212263586343323465_n.jpg?oh=f00936c2015b2c73df700b79ffc7a4c7&oe=5749D16C Was good to meet some fellow Supra owners during the show -
If I knew the previous owner was competent a MKIV member and a true enthusiast and there were receipts for oil, filters, plugs and a good history of the car on the forum etc then I wouldn't see any reason to worry. If its an unknown car then I would be more likely to scrutinize the receipts etc and do a bit more investigation. I have always done my own servicing on my cars mainly as I dont trust a garage to do it properly on my own pride an joy (A garage that was reccomended to me on here gave me shocking service and bodged the repairs on my last Supra, leaving rounded off nuts, cross threaded bolts and snapped bolts on the cam covers etc which I put right but NEVER AGAIN), When it comes to history though I do go overboard on documentation to show it has been done properly. I don't have a stamp as such but on the service schedule I always attached receipts for parts for those services/repairs to the relevant schedule as well as notes about what I done when i done it what needs doing, part numbers etc, signed and dated.

The All Carbon Interior is now finally well underway. This is 100% Ultra lightweight Carbon Fiber no fiberglass here at all. The floor panels have 4 layers of 200gsm carbon and a Honeycomb core to help keep the weight down over solid carbon. I have tested this and it can take my whole weight without failing. Some trimming here and there but its pretty much there. -
CONTAINS SPOILERS going to see the force awakens at midnight
ManwithSupra replied to liam1's topic in Off Topic
I saw this last night and had some expectations... of which I am sad to say lacked.. I am still not sure what to think of it, was it good, was it bad... hmmm I am going to have to let that sink in. The storyline felt weak as did the script, cinimaticly though the CGI, and real world effects were great. Although it was a film again which has been damaged by the trailers (ill get back to that bit) Hans death was no where near what it should have been and we all saw it coming but it was executed (excuse the pun) in such a lame way. Han should have been killed protecting or bringing down the force field or something or at least a dramatic battle between son and father (yes like in ROTJ) with some real emotion, They could have made it so much more involved. In his earlier films he is a smuggler turned hero figure any by far one of the most loved characters to grace the franchise, the way he played his character in this film was not a hero, he just kind of sat down and died with a death worthy of a B Grade movie. They tried to do a Luke Vader Father moment with this scene as well and failed spectacularly why... well because of the damn trailer. So in the trailer at the end you get to see Kylo and Fin have a light sabre battle... this is the issue. When Han walked up to Kylo on the bridge you knew that there was still a scene coming which meant that Kylo would still be on the dark side because he fights Fin, when the scene with Han and Kylo was played out and Kylo started taking off his mask and gloves and said "help me do this" you knew what was coming.. When Kylo killed Han I felt no other emotion other than what?? how is that worthy death... Now onto Rey... where to start I am all up for a female heroin, Jedi or whatever its refreshing. Why did they choose Daisy Ridley... because Keira Knightley probably didn't want to do it or was too expensive - they could almost be sisters those too. Its was like using a B grade actor to fill in for a sequal originally played by another actor. I thought her acting was quite poor for most of the film, same face was pulled pretty much the entire way. Now her "awakening of the force" - It took Luke Months to learn the ways of the force and then even when he did he still sucked and Vader kicked his ass. She seems to do it in a few days with no real effort to be honest. She also seems to be pretty good at swordcraft for someone who has never picked up a light sabre (sword or whatever) an amateur fighting someone who is partially trained would last say oooh er 3 or 4 seconds before being killed or seriously hurt. I did some swordplay lessons a few years ago and well yeah an amateur... no wait two amateurs (Fin) would not have lasted more than a few seconds. Unrealistic. Also her ability to suddenly fly and know the detailed workings of the Mil Falcon and how to fly it like a pro after 30 seconds of trying and making a hash of it. Then there is the whole mind control thing.. If you just say it.. it wont work however if you look angry and stare at them it will. 3 attempts.. (sigh). I dont remembe Alec Guinness looking like this when doing mind control I could go on, the film felt very rushed and there is hardly any information for whats happened over the last 30 years, the script was weak and was the storyline. To me it felt unfinished, not rounded - Also there were a bunch of continuity errors in it which irritated me beyond belief. Verdict - hmm I don't know... I want it to be good, but I just don't think it is, better than 1,2 and 3 YES for sure but no where near 4,5,6. -
I would say its the alternator,

Way too much money for what is a basic singled Auto with moderate power with a imitation wrap. The fact it still has most of the internal trim, with an unapproved cage shouts show car to me, not built for a series.

Yeah same as... weird

Air ride on a Supra... really.. I may as well just sell my car now. Do it to a VW not a Supra... The lift kits are a good idea... All out Air suspension... you would do better by spending 3k on a descent set of shocks and springs and getting them set up properly. One of my mates brothers decided to get the Air performance kit on his VW "stanced" Daily driver (still not sure why) he keeps going on about selling the Air kit and going back to normal suspension. Oh also the air pump gets really annoying after a while!

Hi all, I have been trying to find out who can sell these pipe standoff mounts for hose clips. I have some plastic ones on the car and they have broken due to heat fatigue so want to get some metal mounts. I cannot seem to find anyone that sells something like this in the UK. I have searched for so many different phrases etc. does anyone know where i can get something to mount a hose clip to a bulkhead. To give you an idea they look like this.

Cheers guys, it has come out from the pictures pretty much exactly how I wanted it to. Once the other decals have gone on it will look more like a track car, at the moment its just the bare printed vinyl. -
