So I think the time has come to think about selling the Racing Supra. I'm not fully decided yet but I guess we'll see. Over the last 11 years it has been improved on and upgraded no expense spared. It is truly a one of a kind car and it will be sad to see it go but I just dont have the time now to use her. If anyone knows of anyone who would be willing to take her off my hands then to drop me a PM or Email. Price wise I have an idea of what I want but what do people think.. any suggestions?? Manwithsupra's Racing Supra Project thread

Here is a little update, the car now has a full metal firewall between the cockpit and the fuel tank. This was an area of concern due to the fact there was no barrier between the fuel lines and fittings and the cockpit so if there was a fuel leak which decided to ignite then a flashover was quite possible. This was in the initial fit up, now its fully sealed and the access panels have high temp seals, so if there is a fuel fire it will be contained in that area, I also have a blazecut automatic fire extinguisher installed on the underside of the firewall should a fuel line or fitting rupture and it decide to go up.. Yes it added some weight, but for the sake of being safe its well worth it. Plus I'll save a load more weight once I change the aluminium flat floor to Aramid (Kevlar) -
I seem to have misplaced my bonnet hinges so need a couple more. Also would nice to have bonnet lifters so if anyone has a set for sale let me know.

Plans wise, just to get it out on track a bit more, life is still too busy to consider a competitive racing series, but I plan to take the supra to more shows and events this year too. There is some more refining work to be done and that's just to iron out little niggles here and there. -

I just don't get why they decided to use a BMW platform when they had a perfectly good platform with the Lexus LC500, Yes OK whack a BMW straight 6 in it if you want but the car would still be fundamentally Toyota (Lexus) I am all you have to do is look at it and its far more Supra (esk) than the new Zupra The thing is the new Supra is a good car, especially in this day in age where any sports car without some sort of hybrid/battery combo is going to be rare. Should they have called it the Supra... no absolutely not. All you have to do is look at the bloody LC500 and you can see a new Supra in that... even the interior has styling ripped right from the MK4

Hi All, Looking for one of the JTI mini expansion units. If you have one you want to sell then let me know, cash waiting.

Hi all. Long time no speak, I hope you are all doing well. I am looking for some recommendations on coach work companies in the Hampshire area which will take on the body repair aspect of a restoration project them I am doing. The car in question (not a Supra) has suffered badly from rear arch rust, the manufacturer does not produce replacement panels and neither is there any aftermarket panel copies. So this specialist needs to be able to work with metal i.e make a new arch from actual steel, I need a good job done here, I don't want to just fill it full of body filler, that's what happened with the owner before which caused this issue. The also need the body shop to do a great job on the paint, I will be looking to get the whole car repainted as the paint has suffered over the years too. Last thing, cost.. So I am not a millionaire, yes I can find a coachworks company who works on prestigious cars which work with real metal repairs but again this is a minefield and I don't want to be taken for a ride in terms of cost. I know its going to be a fair few thousand to do but still cost is a factor, after all there is an upper limit with the value of the car anyway.

Heritage program: Poll for A80 Supra parts (Mods)
ManwithSupra replied to Jellybean's topic in Supra Chat
Why would Toyota not go to the lowest bidder? If they actually do follow through on this heritage program its only because a small percentage of their overall customer base wanted it and therefore Toyota are doing us a favor, so later on in life you may choose to buy another Toyota. Its not like a few remade parts is going to make Toyota any money, so they will probably use the cheapest company to make the stuff and sell it on under the heritage name for the same or inflated price. I will very much doubt it will be cheaper! actually thinking about it you will probably find even the lowest bidder these days can make kit the same if not better than they could 20 years ago! -
Heritage program: Poll for A80 Supra parts (Mods)
ManwithSupra replied to Jellybean's topic in Supra Chat
Don't expect this stuff to be cheap, or as high quality as the original OEM parts. Toyota will find the lowest bidder to do this stuff as any manufacturer will do, especially for low run rate stuff.. for example I am guessing suspension arms will be pressed metal instead of cast/forged. But then a new part is a new part -
Good news the new supra is a badged fake.
ManwithSupra replied to herbiemercman's topic in Supra Chat
In this day in age with the war on petrol cars raging we are lucky to get another sports car to choose from. Should it be called a Supra... IMO no, if they called it something else there would have been no issues at all, just like the Subaru and Toyota GT86/BRZ venture. The reason for all they negativity is that Toyota had always built and designed their own cars of which in the 90's there was plenty to choose from, the MR2, Celica GT4 & Supra all of which covered the "sports car" market with some great innovations too. You had mid-engined two seater (MR2), an all wheel drive "rally" car (GT4) and a Sports cruiser (Supra). With the new supra no matter what Toyota Say they separated themselves from the design and bought a chassis and drivetrain from BMW and stuck different body panels on it, which to the Toyota purest is Jarring, especially for people who have owned the MKIV, this was Toyota's last true "pure breed" sports car and therefore previous owners expect nothing less from the next iteration of the car. Like I said if they called it something else there would be no backlash... is the new "Supra" a good car?... well of course it is... its modern very capable sports car, but I think Toyota made the mistake of calling it the Supra. In any case because of the backlash its only put the value of the MKIV up, so as MKIV owners we should be grateful that the new car is, lets say controversial. -
