    im new,

Hope you enjoy your new motor Gary.
  2. Less than 200 people apparently complained to the BBC about Clarkson's comments after the program. Since then people have heard about it on the radio, watched it on the news, read about it in the papers and the complaints have risen to over 21,000. Mindless Clarkson hating sheep every one IMO. Yours, Outraged of Dorset
  3. I got my Kindle a couple of months ago and love it! The only drawback for me is that SWMBO loves it too and has currently hogged it to read her stuff. I might wait to look at the Kindle Fire before buying her one though. If it's any good I'll get that and she can keep the old one. One big upside is that there are loads and loads of free e-books out there just ready to be downloaded. And I don't just mean from Amazon - just look for .mobi files next time you "torrent". :)
  4. Well, that's that sorted. The springs were OK but the left-hand mechanism was very dry and gritty, causing the sticking. Everything's all clean, regreased and smooth as silk now. Thanks for the help guys.
  5. Thanks Andy. That sounds like it could be the problem as mine refuses to catch on one side and the release handle does exactly what you said. (It does eventually latch though so it could just be the catch needs attention.)
  6. Hi, long time no posting but I hope someone can advise please... This isn't the usual "can't open the bonnet" problem that my searching seems to turn up, rather the opposite. For the past few months I've had a problem shutting the bonnet (it opens just fine). The lever pulls back OK but then seems to stick a little, not allowing the cable to fully return, keeping the catches pulled. A few pulls and pushes on the lever seems to eventually settle things back OK. I found screwing the bonnet rubber stops in the front corners all the way down also helps - but it does mean the bonnet doesn't sit nice and flush anymore. I've been living with it so far but the other day had a bit of a scare in the M4 fast lane when the bonnet popped up at speed. Luckily it caught on the central lever but it certainly gave us a scare at the time and I had to cut across to the hard shoulder pretty darn quick! So, can I grease or oil the inner bowden cable to sort the problem or do I need to get the cable replaced? If I can oil the thing, how much of a job is it to release one end and raise it so the oil can flow? Many thanks.

    Tyres (again)

Cheers Dunk. I've got 255x40x17's on the rear. I've plumped for some UniRoyal Rainsport II's locally. Thanks all.

    Tyres (again)

D'Oh! I've just rung back to order them. It seems that it was an old entry in their national database and the branch that said they had them in fact didn't any more. Looks like it's Toyo T1 Sports at £150 then unless anyone knows of better (and cheaper!) Had an offer of something called Nexen for £99 but I don't think I'll take the risk... Thanks for the feedback and advice all.

    Tyres (again)

Sorry for yet another tyre choice thread chaps - I've looked through the threads available but have a specific question... I only do about 2000 miles a year, mostly 20 mile trips and a few long distance journeys. I don't do track days and usually drive on or around the speed limit. (mostly ) At the moment I've got Toyo T1R's all round but at £150+ each these days... Would a set of Goodyear F1's be OK for the back with the existing T1R's on the front? I can get these for £115 locally.
  10. As much as you like little darling.
  11. Mine came up nearly £100 dearer this year with Sky so I told them I wasn't a happy bunny and would be looking around. I also asked for my mileage to be cut down from 5k to 4k per year. Result was a £52 reduction which I accepted. After all, everything's going up so you've got to accept a bit of pain...
  12. Wow, what a race (once you got to the restart). Great drive by JB - last to first and has got to be his best drive yet. Two thoughts came to mind: 1. Hamilton seems to have unlearned everything he's picked up since coming to F1. He's driving like he's still in GP2. 2. This is the first time Vettel's come under any sort of pressure this season - usually he just drives his race from the front. What happens? He falls off the track.
  13. I wonder if there's any truth in the rumour that they're not going to go back in the Autumn this year? Apparently Dangerous Dave reckons it'll be good for tourism and screw the Scots...
  14. I parked my old MX6 in B&Qs car park well away from anyone else's cars, went in to do my DIY shop and came out to find a ruddy great Transit parked up close to my drivers side. To make matters worse, the bottom of their door was covered in rough filler and their banging it on my car had left ruddy great dents all along the bottom of my door. Unfortunately for then I'd just been there buying decking screws, some of which accidentally got jammed front and back of all four tyres.
