He's not a bad Architect ...... but apparently not a Great one ....... that's his cousin !!!! :p :p
-
Well world domination always gets such negative comments !!!!!!! It's a hard thing to sum up when you come to be asked the question isn't it ..... everybody gets something different out of it

:) None of the secrets are unsavory mate I can assure you ..... the secrets of Masonry are basically the way in which one mason communicates to another the fact that they are a Mason and and what level they have progressed to within the lodge ...... today it's largely academic and as someone has already said ..... it's not so secret any more if you've got tittynet access. The common cause ....... at the risk of everyone taking the pi55 ...... it's all about trying to be a better person..... not in a elitist way but in a self development way (not unlike the scouts or guides strangely enough !!!).... giving to and working for charity, getting to know and appreciate others, learning what we call ritual (which is effectively like learning a part in a play) ..... it is supposed to cross both religious and political boundaries ..... not least as both of the imflatory topics are banned within the lodge room and the festive board (nosh up afterwards). Personally I made an advancement in Masonic knowledge today ...... I discovered how to stop and control myself from getting out of my car, ripping off the head of the twat behind me and crapping down his neck ...... there I feel like a better person already !!!!! Personally, I just believe the more people know about masonry (the secrets excepted) the less bad press we'll get. The Grand Lodge of England donated £1million to the boxing day big wave appeal (I can't spell it so get lost) immediately !!!!! Then individual provinces (typically counties) donated tens & hundreds of thousands on top ...... It was never mentioned in any papers to my knowledge ...... who the ***k is supposed to be doing our marketing eh !!!!!
-
It's like anything ...... you get bad apples, doesn't deminish the principles behind the organisation !!!! My old scout master was locked up for taking inaapropriate photos of children ...... doesn't make all scount masters kiddy fidlers. There is a disciplinary proceedure within freemasonry which if follow correctly SHOULD chop out the wrong uns but nothings perfect !!!! YOu could have ended your post by saying you don't have much time for the Police but hey that's a given ha ha ha !!!!! It's like saying all Supra owners speed when we all know some own NA's so that cant be true !!!!!! (lets hope madam won't be reading this shall we !!!)
-
NNNNOOOOO CJ ........ this thread is gonna cost money ...... I'm already coming under pressure from madam to upgrade her NA to a TT ...... you're not helping by posting pickies of such a nice purchase!!!!! Hope it's all the Orange Beastie was and more mate !!!!!!!
-
As for the chief of police comment ....... lets just say I've made sure the number plates on my zed have my avatar very boldly displayed ....... for club purposes naturally!!!!!
-
Well I joined my dad's lodge a few years after he'd died ........ it's as good a reason as any !!!!! Perhaps the best thing about it is you're away fom home, on business or something, and even abroad, you can be guaranteed to be received into a lodge you've never been to and meet people you've never met before and be guaranteed a warm welcome and feel that you're among friends ....... IMHO that's nice ....... although not unlike turning up at a Supra meet with a supra ...... now a Supra meet with a zed - whole new kettle of fish ha ha ha ha
-
No bammbamm I didn't, I was at my own lodge last night, twas our 600th meeting so a few big wigs in attendance. Masonic do's take two forms I guess .... Masons only, full regalia, toasts etc and what's usually termed "ladies to dine" the most formal of which is usually dubbed a ladies night where the blokes have a shower and the tottie dusts down a ball gown or old brides maids dress !!!!!!!! While still formal, these sorts of meets don't involve a proper lodge meeting (in the lodge room) rather a hopefully lavish nosh and after dinner entertainment ...... by the sound of things your other half's speciality !!!!! Sound about right !!!!!
-
Only problem would be it'd be a bugger to get working ....... not being able to use WINDOWS and all:eyebrows: :eyebrows:
-
:eyebrows: Fantastic idea mate ....... I'm up for that
-
Nah ..... that's a secret masonic thing honest !!!!!
-
Part of the reason for asking guys is that I'm in the chair next year and one of the things I want to do is find a few lodges around the country to go visit ..... ideally with a few of the guys making it a bit of a lads night or weekend away ...... so if anyones lodge could do with some reprobates maybe coming to visit then ....... ..... particularly one in Burns country for Jan ??????? Don't know about ages but I'm 35 so I'd like to think it;s not an old man's game which it the other misconception !!!!!! And I'm in RA & KT too !
-
While we're on the subject of Grannies ...... Mines 4134 and called Arts & Crafts !!!!! I'd forgotten yours was 110 CJ ..... how's it going matey ?
-
Just upright and free men of mature age, sound judgement and strict morals ...... open to certain degree of interpretation these days but basically nobody wih a criminal record or a place in the house of commens !!!!! Joining ...... a candidate should approach a mason and declare his interst rather than being press ganged ...... which is where my issue on being open comes from ..... how are we to attract new brethren if no one knows who to ask !!!!!!! Now if ford were in charge of marketing freemasonry we'd all be painted orange ...... but then that would present other problems now wouldn't it
-
Hi ..... It doesn't need to be secret really ........ !!!!! It's a commonly held mis conception that freemasonry is a secret society ..... it's not, it's a society with secrets !!!!!! Subtly secret. People can be told all about freemasonry, some of what happens behind closed doors and even be invited to some masonic social do's .... what can't & won't be disclosed are the secrets of a freemason ...... they were traditionally a manner in which a stone mason could identify to another what level of skill he had and therefore how much he would get paid (you understand that this would be when castles were built and consequently pre micro soft, cv's being e-mailed and references taken on a mobile phone !!!!!) Today they are largely irrelevant but say I was challenged to prove that I was a Mason by the two other Mason on this site (yes there's at least two others !!!!) then I could do so in the time honoured fashion known amongst masons !!!!!!! Hey tradition is tradition !!!!!! So - I don't HAVE to keep my membership secret, and as you can see, I don't !!!!! It is considered inappropriate in certain lines of work because of the public misconception about what we're all about ...... politicians while serving are discouraged from maintaining their membership for example. I wouldn't name other Masons if they didn't want to be named but if it's ok to loud proud and gay ...... I think Masonry deserves some better publicity ..... afterall we do a lot of good work for charity !!!!! Never been accused of subtle me !!!!!!
-
OK it's been a while since I last asked but it has come to my attention lately that I'm not the only Mason in the Village so to say Anybody else on here on the square and prepared to come out of the chest of draws :search: Never know we could have a masonic car meet sorted ...... maybe even an initiation ...... substituting an exhaust for the sheep ..... obviously
-
Hiya mate ...... nice to see you up and running again !!!!!
-
I could tell you ...... but I was taught to be cautious !!!!! One for the brethren on the site I guess
-
Amusing as it is ..... I don't think it's an issue of usefulness ....... if someone is being abused on a thread then mods have a duty of care to protect that person ...... if that person then enters the fray ..... I'd say it's gloves off. But hey ....... people like to watch in today's world ..... is this the birth of reality forums ...... I'd like to say we don't do this on the 350z owners club ...... but !!!!!! Hey if it was all car talk it'd be SOOOOOO boring !

We had madam's NA re sprayed last year ...... although we didn't get Liam to do it, we did get a lot of advice off him which resulted in us leaving in the front and rear windscreens as the seals were supple enough to be taped back giving a good finish ...... this is however impossible with the quarter lights. To avoid tide marks you do need to take them out however they are a bonded unit and a potential bugger to get out. We had quite a discussion with the body shop as Madam discovered that they were £700 a piece to replace and the body shop promptly decided that they didn't want to do the job because one broken quarter light would wipe out their profit on the job and the excess on a body shop insurance policy is obviously quite high and far in excess of the £700. Although we weren't overly chuffed we agreed that if the window broke during removal (fitting is the easy bit apparenty) then we would cover it ......... however ...... and here's the cleaver bit ..... check the glass clause on your policy .....Nikki is insured with the club insurer (Sun I think) andtheir policy cover ANY BROKEN GLASS ....... WHATEVER the reason ...... including an unfortunate workshop accident repairing that little bit of rust near the quarter lights (obviously at this stage you won't be having a full re-spray will you !!!!!! ) Don't get me wrong you have to word things very carefully with the insurer but it's all very above board, and won't impact on your no claims bonus or incur anything other than the £50 excess. So, I'd get the body shop to do it if you're going to a body shop, or if you're doing it unofficially, then be prepared to claim for a house hold accident !!!!! If you want more info pm me or if you want some knowledgable advice on removing quarter lights pm Lovatt !!!! Well bugger me, I think I might have actually posted something helpful on this site instead of just taking the p**s out of you "old" car owners ..... needing re sprays and all :p PS - when the body shop actually got round to the quarter lights they said they came out quite easily !!!!!!! Still twin turbo ones must be stuck in better to with stand all that hot air ......... from the engine ...... honest !!!!!

Nah ...... if I post a link now one's Butler can keep an eye and summaries the best bits after dinner !
