  1. Ouch, Didnt you think to turn up the heater full blast and open all the windows? Worked a treat when my GTI-6 fans decided not to come on while stuck in traffic on the kingston bridge.
  2. The aux belt also drives the water pump so bye bye engine if you try to get home.
  3. Not yet, Its really bad after sitting for two weeks and struggles to start but day to day its almost fine bar a few puffs here an there. I really want to have a go at it myself but were moving house soon so would be best to wait. I'll try some different oil next service its running Mobile 1 (15w/ something or other) at the moment.
  4. Yep looks like stems seals but not too bad as mine has deteriorated quickly within the last couple of months and now smokes when pulling away from traffic lights once its nice and warm.
  5. Try here, http://www.hypertechscotland.co.uk/home.htm Very helpful and often work on sups. I've been going there for over seven years now with good service.
  6. I paid around 400 for 2nd ones.
  7. My TRD dampers are grey with Bilstein on them and the springs are black with TRD on them. The damper shaft thread is also thicker than stock so the top mounts are different to accommodate them. They are also adjustable to three different levels using a clip on the bottom spring seat. 15, 25 & 35mm.
  8. LOL, I thought he was very good on Have I Got News For You recently
  9. Fixed it. Piece of p'ss just tapped out no probs and the new one pulled through easy by fitting the nut backwards and tightening.
  10. Damn, just as I suspected. Cheers for checking. Mike

    rear wheel bearing

Paul at Whifbitz on here can get them for a good price too. Mind you'll need the seals, retaining clip and new lock nut too and possibly a whole new hub flange if the bearings really knackered or it doesnt come off the original hub nicely.
  12. The only bushes I know of are inside the clamps holding each side of the ARB to the body. The droplinks have ball joints.
  13. No one else had this problem? Just want to make sure as the cost of a new assembly will be frightening.
  14. A Toyota dealership. I'm sure their about 6 quid each.
  15. The windows been rattling for a wee while now when its half open so decided to take a look. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v640/mikemajorek/?action=view&current=MOV00228.flv As you can see in the vid it looks like the guides are worn in the lift mechanism. Anyone know if you can replace the plastic guides that run up & down inside the metal runner or is it a complete lifter mechanism replacement job? Cheers Mike
  16. NA should easy see over 300 miles from a tank mixed driving, I'd reckon long journeys on the motorway it'll get nearly 400 as I've had close to that in my Jspec TT. If your mileage is crap then yeah possibly the O2 sensors are going, Nic on here can get them for a good price or you'll be well over a 100 quid each from Mr T. Reset the ECU by either disconnecting the battery or pulling out the ECU fuses in the engine bay for a minute or two.
  17. Check and make sure you can touch all your wheels without jumping in the air holding your fingers. I had smoke coming out the rear wheel because the caliper was that seized, does nothing for the fuel economy either.
  18. I found my rattle/squeek from the boot area to be the headlining. It wasnt clipped in properly along the edge of the roof where it meets the tailgate. 1 down many to go.
  19. Page 8 of the Prius owner's manual......... If you do not use the vehicle for a long time (2 weeks or more), the hybrid vehicle battery and auxiliary battery will discharge and their condition is liable to decline. Therefore, in order to make up for discharging, charge them once in every two weeks for about 30 minutes by starting the hybrid system with all electrical components turned off." Ok I may have exaggerated a little.
  20. Yeah 30 quid but you cant leave it sitting for more than two weeks or it knackers the batteries leaving you with a humungus bill. So I read somewhere.
  21. Cheers, ordered five today at 1.90odd each. I'm just repairing the one cause I know why it snapped:taped: and i'll have some ready spares. Brakes will all come off easy as thats what I spent all yesterday overhauling and copperslipped all the cradle bolts.
  22. I thought that too but from what I read its going to be on cars from 2001.
  23. Nice one, gonna get a couple ordered tomorrow so I'll get a crack at it Thursday. Cheers Homer Mike
  24. Silly me getting too carried away with a breaker bar. Doh. Does anyone know if the FAQ for the rear stud using the BJ separator works for the fronts? Cheers Mike
  25. Hmmm, wonder if my matrix will be the next thing to go because my dash might be going somewhere. Cheers
