  1. LOL, stop tempting me i've already worked out in my head how much paint i'd need, what i'd need to strip off the car and roughly two weeks solid graft without feckups. Anyway heres a few more pics with the adjusted paint, still looks out from the rear 1/4 but its better. Spent late last night flattening and cutting. Also no polish or wax has been put on yet just the bare paint in the pics. Here's a pic of the colour difference, I feel like a challenge though, would have to be October and I'd use basecoat paint with 2K laquer. Would need to buy a polisher as I was knackered just doing that door.
  2. Its a fancy system where the oil in each damper can be controlled. Dunno much about it but plenty stuff in the search.# Found a good link, http://supraforums.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=5487&postcount=1
  3. Well its been a frustrating day, damn paint I had matched by the paint shop looks far to red so had to leave the paint with them to fiddle with the colour. Hopefully pick it up tomorrow and blast the car again. Couple of pics anyway:- Good shine but poor match:taped: So decided to fix that common rust spot under the windscreen, This is what I was presented with after removing the scuttle panel. Not too bad at least. Used what was left in the gun of the crap match paint, least it wont be noticeable. Roll on tomorrow.
  4. I'd imagine they'd fit no probs unless the 1999 sup has that REAS suspension setup.
  5. Me but I've changed to TTC to get rid of the problem. I think its the EGCV or EGBV not reacting quick enough. I tested both on the car with the compressor and the EGBV was slow to open. Exercising it helped with some 3 in 1 on the actuator. When my connector fell off the EGCV vsv the 2nd tubby would refuse to kick in and at 4k the engine was slow to rev harder.
  6. Cheers guys, I hate how the skirts cover up that nice curve on the bottom of the wings, had forgotten all about it until today. Also going to replace the headlamps probably with fresh looking glass UK specs so will be looking much sharper at the front when done.
  7. Started work on the bodywork today, was certainly apprehensive at making a start but im becoming happier as the job progresses. Anyway a few pics from today. This morning I stripped off the skirts, removed most things from the door and popped the bumper off at the one side. In the 1st two pics the paint was rubbed down and all the loose paint removed with chips smoothed over as much as possible. 1st Dusty coat of primer and bad areas smoothed out. Then the final coat of primer and thats as far as today goes. Thinking about removing the OEM skirts and going back to bone stock. What do reckon? I'm fed up with them rubbing the paint away in places and collecting muck along the sills. Anyway hopefully tomorrow will see some red on then got to do the wing mirror, sill and pod if i'm not fitting the skirts. Cheers:) Mike
  8. Nice pic, Id imagine some vultures flying around will get some attention from passers by:). They arent the smallest of birds either. Hope he gets them back soon. Cheers Mike
  9. This is getting a bit concerning now. I'm running full decat 1 bar BPU. Did have Denso IK22 plugs but replaced with new NGK coppers as part of the fault finding making no difference. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v640/mikemajorek/?action=view&current=MOV00393.flv It causes the whole car to judder sometimes idle. I havent really noticed this on the road apart from the odd pop on the over run. So far i've:- stripped each coil pack clip and checked connection tightness. clips are about 1 1/2 years old. Swapped out a coil pack one at a time with a known good one. Swapped out the spark plugs one at a time with new NGK's. Cleaned out the Idle control valve. Its had a recent O2 sensor. Today the local tyre garage said there were no leaks on the exhaust. But I can smell half burnt V power in the cabin sometimes with the drivers window cracked open when booting it. Strange as you cant smell anything under the bonnet and couldnt see any obvious leaks when it was on the ramp. The only issue I know of is the stem seals are wearing but cant think how this would cause this unless one seal was really bad maybe. Cheers Mike
  10. It was at Camperdown park yesterday. Chris, Good job that bit fence is there LOL good photo. When they're out with the birds they sometimes get distracted by rabbits and they have a hard time trying to get the owls to leave them unlike the Hawks which can be coaxed away from their kill. How old are yours?
  11. Nah, it wasnt angry just excitable before getting picked up as it thinks its feeding time. The photo was mid chirp.
  12. Couple that we know from our local pub run the raptor world at the Scottish deer centre so today they had a show on in Dundee. We were totally amazed by the size of the European eagle owl, she 's only 12 weeks old too. Couple of hawks there one was a Harris Hawk who's only 2 years old and from North America and I cant remember what the little nippy one was but it seemed to like grabbing worms out the ground lol. Just couldnt get over the size of the owl though, Stunning looking bird.
  13. , Depends how badly kerbed they are, mine had a few scrapes that I smoothed down making them look better but not totally invisible. I think some wheel places will weld new material onto badly damaged rims. I did mine over two days, one side a day but only spent a few hours a day on them. if your gonna do them, make sure you let all the air out the tyres before masking round the rim, that way the tyre has relaxed off the wheel abit making life easier.
  14. Ahh, now that would certainly stop me peeling them off. Didnt even think of that. Cheers.
  15. Sure did. They were a good match too but very slightly darker so going to go over them if I've enough paint left. I tried picking off the AEM stickers but I didn't even make a mark LOL.
  16. Heres a pic with them on after a quick wash. Makes the car look much more tidy now i think.
  17. I managed to get away with using a wobbly extension giving the socket that little bit of movement it needs. I'm sure it took just over an hour to change all six, was a long time ago now like. Good effort though, nice to see someone else having a go.
  18. Cheers guys, Yip done the caps too. Not sure on the paint manufacturer, could be MIPA. Anyway its code is:- 61-098. I'll ask the guys at the paint shop next time i'm in cos I need some decent thinners for the bodywork. It's quite funny, the g'fs just bought a Yaris T sport and got a couple of hundred quid off it since its wheels are scabby, wonder what i'm going to doing more of:rolleyes:
  19. So, after changing my mind as many times about selling the sup and almost going for a new shape Lexus GS I've decided to keep it and sort some of the bits that are bothering me. Anyway it all started with a visit to the paint shop for a litre of red and before I knew it I was away with some stunning spangly wheel paint. So its all started with the scabby wheels. (they werent too bad but looked abit shabby with a few scuffs) Bit of a rub down and three coats of spangly basecoat later. Then a few coats of 2K laquer. Sorry no pics of them on the car yet but they look good on it against the red. So next is the dash to get some proper 2K laquer over the black paint, then once I get some free time next week the wings, bumper , drivers door and skirts are getting some fresh red. Might need to attend to some surface rust at the tailgate hinges and windscreen scuttle too but looking forward to getting into it. Cheers Mike
  20. Did your drivers side window rattle when half way down? If not i'd be interested in the window regulator as mine has a lot of play. Is the drivers seatbelt in good condition too? no frays. What condition is the drivers side door glass in? Any of those horrible long scratches they get off the window scraper? Cheers Mike
  21. Just bought the paint to sort mine out again after a gritter minced mine last year. This time though i need to do the wings and drivers door maybe the skirts too if i've enough paint. I'm too scared to tackle the bonnet, very big area to spray in one go without flies and fluff sticking to it.
