  1. I did think it was a little unwilling to rev for a VVTI but put it down to the car being new to us. I'll post up my findings once I get the code reader.
  2. Just bought the U480 reader, fingers crossed it's nothing much.
  3. Surely it would run like crap with a faulty MAF, Anyways the EFI fuse has been pulled and this has done nothing so time to get a reader. Cheers Mike

    Boot squeek

When driving along and its squeeking try pushing up on the headlining near the back and see if it stops. Sometimes the healiner clips pop out causing squeeks.
  5. I looked at that one on another site but wasn't sure if it was compatible after reading on here about the VVTI supes not working with many readers, thanks for confirming. I think i'll be best to get one seeing as MR T charges £80 just to check the codes. Did you have to change out the O2 sensor? This ones only done 19k so i'd be abit disappointed if it is this. Thanks:) Mike
  6. Nah, dunno how yet. I think you can use the paperclip method but still trying to find details.
  7. Anyone know if a 53 plate T sport Yaris is OBDII or III? MIL light come on today and the car drives as normal. After looking into it the light can come on for roughly 1600 reasons if it OBDII. Cheers Mike
  8. Yep, 4.00am start is always a winner with them LOL not that I do that everyday. My vw bug is louder though and takes a lot of attempts to start after two weeks so it kinda takes the heat off the sup.
  9. Ouch, that doesn't sound right mate, surely a flaw in the cast. Not the supra but I spent hours struggling to fit the new engine in my bug only to find out it would seize everytime I tried tightening down the bolts. Removed engine again and found out i should have removed this adapter ring from the clutch fingers which was causing it to bind on the release bearing guide. Total nightmare and all on the night before going offshore for two weeks.
  10. Yeah seen that, very good thread but made me decide that I couldn't be a'sed doing it myself.
  11. Ahh now that looks the business, Could you send me some details please Nic.
  12. I'm starting to think about booking the car in for its stem seal change but wondering what else would be prudent to check or replace while the heads off. I've been thinking along the lines of:- Valve clearances/timing belt / have a check of those hard to get to VAC hoses / Check the tubbies but there must be plenty other stuff too. All suggestions welcome as this is probably the first major work on the engine in the cars life. Before its mentioned, i'm well aware of the rope trick but would rather have stuff like the gaskets refreshed and anyway my garage has already said valves can get bent doing the rope trick and wouldn't consider it. Cheers:) Mike
  13. Mind that Jspecs only have one O2 sensor unless its an NA.
  14. LOL, Nice trick:d I'm away to look at one today close to me. See whats its like, they sound quite nice on You tube.
  15. I did this O2 sensor voltage check today, http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=35940&highlight=Narrowband+Sensor The readings were going from 0.9V to 0v to 0.9v in a constant loop. The 0.9v reading sounds like its a tad rich causing the popping on idle. Is the reading meant to drop to 0v in a regular cycle? Giving the fact the O2 sensor is only a few months old surely it cant be knackered and something else is causing it to run rich, injectors maybe? Any ideas welcome. Cheers Mike
  16. Nope, just pootling about most of the time as we had rain for days on end and a few blasts mixed in. Worked out the average at 31mpg.
  17. Bare metal finish will be ok as long as you look after them with metal polish and some sort of wax over the top. Seen that rim wax stuff but never used it. I use carnuba wax on my other cars rims and they have been ok since March.
  18. Give Duncan a shout at Hypertech in Bonnybridge. Good service and more importantly knows Supras.
  19. My RZ has both, my lights are velcro'd to the heater pipes and as said are an optional extra from Mr T.
  20. All sounds normal to me LOL, mine has jumped out of 1st a couple of times but I know at the time it felt like it had only went half into gear but I ignored it. When I pulled away it jumped out with a bang making me jump.
  21. The 993 is still the most saught after the now isnt it? My mate who's into Porsches said the build quality dropped when the boxter was released.
  22. Nice sounds like a good little project. Good luck you'll love firing it up for the 1st time.
  23. Well I changed mine when the car had done around 95K and it made the idle terrible at first, it was chugging and sitting about 500 revs. Sorted itself out once I'd got home from the garage (about 70 miles). Getting good mileage tho, 415miles to a tank was my record last month.
  24. Very nice work there:thumbs: Nothing wrong with a touch of flattening and polishing, gives that great mirror finish. The paint can be a huge factor in the cost of a respray alone, solid colours probably a couple hundred quid in supplies but then some metallic / flip paints can be that per litre.
