  1. Have to say that plastic covers over brake lines is asking for trouble in the long term, seen it happen to the g/f's last clio where the cover held onto all the crud. I guess the makers put them there to stop stone chip erosion under the floor pans but cant think why they're needed at the back. Heat from the exhaust wouldnt have helped either. Lucky escape mate, good post too i'll be checking mine.
  2. Welcome to my world:) I thought mine would be alot louder too but was left disappointed and i'm not hitting fuel cut either.
  3. Awwww You Guys:grouphug: Just got back yesterday from 3 weeks solid offshore:( On the upside it only took a couple of fine beers to get me smashed LOL:d
  4. I'd say it depends on how free flowing your exhaust is. I've removed both cats and i'm not getting fuel cut, car is definitely quicker but no fuel cut yet. I'm putting it down to the apexi exhaust as it has another silencer behind the back box. Still to check what boost its actually giving as I decided to chance it since I have no FCD fitted yet.
  5. Yeah please Chris sounds interesting.
  6. Pretty impressive price the D5W is new £1300:blink: http://www.midlandchandlers.co.uk/EBERSPACHER-D5W-HYDRONIC-DIESEL-HEATER-C-W-NARROWBOAT-FITTING-KIT_A5NRJ.aspx
  7. Thanks very much for the pics. Unfortunately I dont think its the right type or I would be pestering you for how much you wanted for it. See its for an aircooled motor so i need the cabin heater type that'll sit under the back seat or behind the dash. I'll try and find out more about them and the model types. Would be good on a supra to help prevent cold starts and provide instant heat through the vents I guess. Thanks Mike
  8. Ahh, thats for preheating the engine while your still tucked up in bed. The D2 and D1 types are just for the cabins and you hook up air hoses to wherever.
  9. Thats a bit of a beast might be too big but i'll check sizes off their site if I can. Pic would be nice yeah, thanks:). What do you reckon it needs to work? control box & fuel pump
  10. Thanks. Really interested in fitting something like this into the other car as i've done away with the heat exchangers now so things will be a bit Hill Billy this time of year.
  11. Hmmm, its not a D2 version is it? What was it like running? are they noisy? do they give off a good heat? Did it smoke on start up? I've never seen one in action before. Cheers Mike
  12. Yeah, big ones on boats and truck cabs but smaller ones i'm sure are on some vans. Used to get petrol versions fitted to some cars years ago.
  13. Looking for a diesel one but brand new they cost a fortune and apparently some vans had them fitted as standard. Anyone know which ones so I can rummage around the scrappies
  14. You'll probably need to get the engine nice and stable too so it wont try to tip over stopping you getting full force on that nut.
  15. Some sort of locking tool on the flywheel will help no end. I have one specially for vw motors that bolts through the crankcase while slotting into the flywheel teeth.
  16. Just as bad as standing in some old spilt diesel usually next to the pump then dragging in over the mats or worse one of the pedals.
  17. You always hear about diesels being low in CO2 emissions but what about the old carcinogenic soot particles they still seem to chuck out. Both me and the g/f hate them with a passion even though she travels around 700 miles a week to work. She has an older 7 yr old clio 1.6 16v that still gets 45mpg cruising, sounds 100 times better and most 2ltr tdi's can't shake it. Funny how the price of diesel has jumped up with the popularity of them isn't it?
  18. Think i was about 200 notes from Hypertech for clutch, flywheel and new gearbox seals plus a couple of litres of Fuchs titan ATF 3000 stuff thats been spot on in my getrag box so far. Mine was all stock and cant say enough about the difference a new stock flywheel makes to the feel and sound of the car.
  19. Hmmm, sounds about right although I think mine have started getting tired which is making for a more bumpy ride than normal. Shame as I like the sup looking quite low at the front.
  20. What do you reckon of the TRD Bilstein dampers?? any experience with them Chris?
  21. Very informative, thanks for that Ian. Cheers Mike
  22. LOL,no i'm not that worried and I hate running wire through the car at the best of times.
  23. Yeah sounds like it's the same louder as it gets slower. I know sometimes the car wont start 1st time after sitting a couple of weeks and the pump gets more noisy as the engines about to stall. Cheers Mike
  24. Hehe. I see where your going with this:d I was thinking more load = more strain on alt = dimmed headlights and less voltage to pump to make it sound strained or noisier. Its ok when you blip the throttle you hear it picking up again I guess in time with the headlights brightening up. kindoff answered my own question here LOL
  25. My last sup did exactly the same and I traced the leak back to the top passenger corner of the seal. It would run down the inside of the window and collect in the plastic trim rusting out the heater element coils. Fixed it with loads of silicon under the rubber lip on the outside.
