I wouldn't have thought it was normal. I didn't think it did it when I first picked the car up in January. It was clunky in terms of shifts but not the transmission rattle/clunk when coming on and off the accelerator. I have no idea really. I have been thinking about taking it to get checked out.
-
Mines displays almost identical behaviour, clunk/rattle coming on and off the throttle like there is a degree of free play in the transmission somewhere and mine has also popped out of first quite a few times over the past 6 months or so. I also get a bit movement in the gearstick whilst in second when coming off and on the throttle.

Around 12.30am pulling up at a pub in poulton which I don't know the name of just off. It was just off garstang road on hardhorn road heading into poulton centre. Think it was a UK spec and had a private plate of XX TOM. Had some very nice alloys fitted and looked really clean unlike mine. I almost stopped but would have been embarrassed he he
-
Has briefly crossed my mind, I would be very surprised but I will definately be having a look. I also have a knock/cluck when coming off the accelerator in any gear, I think this is more gearbox related but wonder if there could be movement if it was engine mounts
-
Sounds fairly straightforward, getting a knocking noise over bumps/dips in the road sounds/feels like the front drivers side. Checked and tightened sub frame bolts. Checked anti-roll bar, undone it and driven it like that and knock still there. Had suspension struts off and checked them and swapped them left to right and the knock is still on the same side. Looking at the bushes they seem ok on a visual inspection, top arm plenty of spring in it and stiff, ball joint firm and smooth. I feel the knock more through the floor/pedals than the steering wheel which is a bit odd. I'm hoping to jack it up this weekend and really give everything a good prying etc. Any suggestions, bottom arm perhaps? It's getting really annoying and doesn't inspire confidence! Thanks Ben

Think this is the one I saw in front of 439 the other week that I accused david of. He soon corrected me that it wasn't and theres no tape anywhere near his car
-
Saw a silver facelift on the M6 approaching Preston at 2.50pm, had a mkiv owners sticking in window, blue calipers, R*** BVS. Ten mintues later think I saw a Black one outside lane on M55 heading towards Preston.
-
Yeah I saw what I think might of been this one heading out that way towards poulton at about 5.30pm yesterday. Was just by the Newton Arms when I passed him. Was it yours that I saw parked in front of 439 the other week with gaffa tape on the front bumper?
-
I think this ones been covered before. I know of that Samlesbury black supra, must have been parking there for 5+ years. It wasn't me, I was in the Lakes and I only work at Warton. You must be desperate working a Bank Hol!?
-
Red Supra with a loud exhaust around the Stanley Park/Blackpool Zoo area on Sunday afternoon between 5-5.30. Reg first 3 letters were BIG. I was wandering around the park at the time so you wouldn't have seen another Supra.
-
I know the police do skid training on it or something similar. It would be great if it could be loaned out to us for a day! So if it ever happened, I'm there!
-
I'm there!
-
Yeah I saw a silver one that sounds similar driving through Layton just near me a couple of weeks ago too, I waved and they nodded back, don't know who they are and didn't know they worked at BAE if indeed it is the same person.
-
Yeah that was me. You did look a bit startled! I'll let you off, but next time I won't be quite so accommodating, I'll turn round and hunt you down!
-
I was quite interested in this but it appears it's only for N/As and I've got a TT. Looks like the main issue for fitting it to a TT is the diameter is only 70mm unlike the TT exhausts of 80 & 90mm. Shows it in this table on their site: http://www.kakimotoracing.co.jp/01-01-01_t1.html Just in case anybody else was wondering. But it's a great price, I was tempted!
-
Oh dear, what have I done! Who'd have thought such a innocent question would result in this!

Had a crack with the video camera earlier, footage wasn't very good but i can pinpoint the needle moving off 0 and then hitting 60. I know this isn't as accurate as a GPS driftbox type gadget but by making a note of the frame times and then taking one from the other I get 5.32secs which I'm much happier with. Ok it might in fairness be a little slower due to the accuracy of the speedo etc, but it's not 6.1secs. Minus the mate who can't use a stopwatch very well and his weight saving, things seem to have improved. I can sleep easy tonight knowing my supras not a complete heap :o)
-
Thanks Mike. i might go for out with the camera for a while now and see what I can get failing that, I might give that a go. What exactly is a drift box though?
-
Very roughly with a mate and stopwatch, not got any electronic gizmos to try out. What might be worth a go is videoing the speedo and working it out from the frames?

This is a valid point, however I did manage a good time in my old mkiii, different car granted but not that different, and also same tyres as I had on that car on same alloys..... But what can other people manage? Nobody seems willing to say or you just don't bother trying? I'm always interested to know as it's a simple bench mark without going out the way to get it on a dyno. Basically my questions boils down to should I be concerned about it, maybe something wrong somewhere with the engine or is it easily attributed to needing some new plugs or better tyres or a combination of other little things?
-
I have a completely stock j-spec 6-speed. from your experience, what have you got as a 0-60 time on those with stock 6-speed TTs? I know it is meant to be 4.9-5.1secs seems to vary from where you read it. I had a go yesterday and I could only manage 6.1secs which to be honest was a little disappointing. if I'd managed to get well into the 5's I'd have been satisfied given it's 10 years old and bone stock. I managed 5.7 in my old mkiii supra which was running 300bhp after all! What has everyone else managed to get? Would be good if you could post up times as a comparison.

I think this passed me back in Jan just off North Park Drive, don't think it's anyones on here though. Somebody else mentioned it to me and told me it's an N/A. Nice looking supra though, love the colour!
-
It wasn't me! I'd most likely be at Harry Feeney Toyota anyway.
