  1. Hmmmm....not sure how many trophys can actually play football, but we've got living proof that a giraffe can (well, 'play' is probably too strong a word for it actually! )
  2. Well, sorry to rub it in chaps, but I'm off till the 9th of December now, but I love my job anyway so I can't wait to get back (not that I won't enjoy a couple of weeks lazing around at home of course!)
  3. That's pretty much what I was thinking Willson - I'd like an S13, but I'd be pretty worried about buying a duff one. BMW is probably more sensible, just a bit more boring!
  4. Thanks for all the comments so far guys Definitely leaning towards the S13, but I am slightly worried that 99% of them will have been ragged to within an inch of their lives! Have you guys that have had them in the past had any problems with them? Johnd - was that an 318iS you had? Hmmm, 2.8 V6 eh? interesting! Not sure how much I like Sierras though tbh. My recent dealings with ford have kinda put me off the brand too... What do people think about a mk2 MR2?
  5. Scaring drunken people walking past the fire station at night with a fake rat on a fishing wire (well technically it's a ferret, but that's by the by). The funniest one was a drunken aussie with a big group of friends who absolutely shat herself when we ran the rat over her feet. She took it in good humour when we came out and told her it was us - "You guys...." she said, before promptly running off and booting the football that we'd filled with water and placed a little further along the forecourt. Hilarious!
  6. yep, seen them for about a grand - not sure how good they'd be at that price though. Aren't there some reliability issues, or are they ok?
  7. Ok, in a nutshell, I was recently on the verge of supra ownership after a long search, but unfortunately it fell through at the last minute. There are a couple of other supes I'm looking at, but I don't wanna be rushed into getting one that isn't right cos I need a car now, so if I don't go for one of those, I was thinking about getting a fairly cheap car for the winter so I'd have longer to search for the right supra and maybe get one in the spring. Aaaanyway, what do people think I should get? I've had some powerful cars in the past (Focus RS at the mo), but never a RWD, so I'd like to get one of those and learn how it handles in the winter so I'm an expert when it comes to the supra Looking at spending about £1 - £1.5k I quite like the S13 200SX, so that's probably top of the list, but I'm thinking that one in that price range will probably be shagged? Anyone got any experience of them? (Piehound?) Quite like the E30 BMW's too - the 318iS is supposed to be good, but I like the idea of a straight 6 325i, although I think they might be a bit out of my price range. Any suggestions/opinions greatly appreciated
  8. Good computer skills Kopite - not quite as amusing as the original IMHO tho Yeah, no idea how McFadden got away with that. We missed a shite load of chances to finish it in the second half too.....how Bramble is a premier league footballer is a mystery to me
  9. Sorry dude, had that for a while and I had to use it Come on Everton! 1-0 against the barcodes!
  10. I did search, so hopefully not a repost http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=24663&stc=1&d=1133110018
  11. Can I just say that I'm very nice! And I'm not just saying that cos of those pictures
  12. Yeah, saw that one, looks like a great car for someone at £4000, especially as it's in black which is my preferred colour, but Newcastle is a little bit too far! Although, I hear Newcastle has a pretty wild nightlife........
  13. Yeah, saw that one, but I'm not a massive fan of that rear wing and the bonnet vents! Don't you think it's a bit over priced for an L reg private sale though? I was gonna buy Pete's, and I thought that was perfect for me, but I got gazumped at the last minute When is your week off then? Maybe I can persuade Ro to come along and we can hide round the corner and watch you in action (Hmmm, reading that last line back it sounds ever so slightly dodgy!)
  14. Didn't really look at that other one really TBH - apart from the front bumper the one I'm on about has everything I want - nice 18's and OEM skirts and spats. It's also got a nice momo steering wheel and a vacuum guage - not 100% on why that's necessary or how it works (I think it tells you how hard the engine is working and therefore gives an indication of fuel economy. anyone?) but I think it's cool anyway! Yes, I know I could get the other one and do all that stuff myself, but I'm a very lazy man They actually said they'd put the standard bumper from that car on the one I want if I wanted it, but I'm not really sure if I trust them to do it properly. The fact yours came from there gives me some peace of mind though - I take it you've had no problems? I just don't have a very good feeling about the place though. It's a fresh import, and when I asked him what auction grade it was, he said "probably 3.7 to 4" WTF? When I went to look at it, it hadn't been converted to UK standards (eg fog light, radio, speedo etc) so it can't have been SVA'd either, and I thought they would have had to do that before it left the docks if they'd imported it themselves? Just makes me think maybe they got it from the UK auctions, and we all know the quality of the cars that come from there....
  15. Thanks guys, bloody nice blokes on this board! I'll get the drinks in if we actually do it Gotta go back to work in London till sunday soon, so maybe sometime early next week? Can't really afford to spend more than about £5000 James, and unfortunately I think Rush will want more than that! Isn't it a TT anyway? I don't think there's too much wrong with it mechanically (but then again, I know fairly little about car mechanics, so there could be ), there's just a couple of things I'm not sure about: it's got pro drive wheels, and from what I've read on the net they're only sold for fitment to imprezzas, so I don't want it to be eating tyres all the time; and the top of the O/S headlight is raised a couple of mill above the bonnet. The garage reckon it's cos it has an aftermarket front bumper and whoever fitted it may have had to adjust the headlight a bit to get it to fit properly. Just doesn't sound quite right to me. I suppose I just really need an opinion from someone who knows something about supras on whether they think it's a decent car or not! Didn't really like the attitude of the guy there when I went to have a look at it a few weeks ago, so maybe we can intimidate him into giving me a good deal if we go there with a few quality supes Paul, the car I'm thinking of is here It's the silver one for £5495 (not planning on paying that much though!) Do you know anything about D McMinn? By the way, I realise that front end is horrid - I'd change it for a standard one if I got it.
  16. Cheers fella, appreciate that - might have to take you up on the offer. I'm after a N/A, so a spin in a TT might not be the best idea though - may tempt me to spend more than I can afford! Umm, don't suppose you're a technical dude are you? If so, if you wanted to take a spin to Hemel there's a car I'm interested in, but I'm not quite sure if it's a good'un or not.......... By the way, if anyone else near Hemel wants to help me out on this it would be very much appreciated
  17. I'm sure Penguins car is great, but I'm after an N/A and I can only afford about £4.5k I'm afraid
  18. Well, I managed to swing by briefly at 7.30, but there were only a few cars there at that time. Said hello to Simon and Ro (there were a couple of other peeps but I can't remember names. sorry!), and to be honest the RS wasn't looking great compared to the supes. Had to leave pretty fast cos I was supposed to be at work, so I'm afraid I couldn't meet any more of you. I did see (and hear!) you though as you went the other way past me near the green James! I thought I was buying my first supe in the next couple of days, but that seems to have fallen through unfortunately, so it might still be a while before I can join the club properly :thumbdown
  19. Re-started what seems like a doomed search for a decent supra
  20. If only I was in charge of one of the trucks on the 17th! I don't think that's very likely though unfortunately......probably a good thing though really - I'm sure peole have been charged for less than escorting a few supras round London! See, I told you a detour up Shepherds Bush road would be a good idea! That might actually possible if you really wanted to do it - I'd have to ask the guvnor, and it could only be a few, not too many but....... At the very least I could open the doors and you could get a few quick pics out the front of the station with the trucks visable. Ok, not great, but might be worth the small detour!
  21. I would love to, but I work at the fire station, and unfortunately they don't take to kindly to me just "popping out" I'll probably be around during the day on the 17th, but I imagine you'll be at work...........
  22. Xscape in milton keynes is good for learning on real snow - doesn't hurt (much!) when you fall on your arse! Not too far from you either, just round the M25 then up the M1 for a bit. Definitely go for snowboarding instead of skiing tho like suprastar said - much cooler, plus there's no potential for 'doing the splits' related injuries! They actually do a 'learn to ski/board' in a day course. Quite gruelling, but you only have to go there once and you'll get all the basics to get you started
  23. Any chance James? C'mon, you know you wanna.......theres a cafe rouge on shepherds bush road too y'know! And Hammersmith is lovely this time of year......
  24. Agreed Getting a CBR600 for your first bike isn't exactly clever, but then wanting to race a supra having no riding experience is just downright silly. There's a reason riders are known as 'donors' in hospitals y'know
