  1. Given the success of the Portsmouth/Southampton mini-meet we've decided to hold another local meet in around a months time. It's been suggested that we meet at the Royal Victoria Country Park which is again nicely situated between Portsmouth and Southampton and also sign posted from the motorway, so it should be nice and easy to find. The intention is to organise a barbecue for this meet, but this will require us to know how many people want to go so it can be booked in advance. The site offers facilities for a small or large barbecue, catering for 25 or 100 people respectively, and at a cost of £20 or £40 respectively. This includes seating, parking and toilet facilities, which works out at only a pound per person if 20 people go and is cheaper than the cost of parking there! You will need to bring your own food to cook, and they don't provide charcoal, but neither of these should amount to much. As before, there are a few dates to choose from. Which ever proves most convenient for the majority will win. All dates are for August and include... 16th (Saturday) 17th (Sunday) 23rd (Saturday) 24th (Sunday) So if your interested in going then could you let us know here, including prefered dates or dates you know you can't make. I'll also need to know if you're interested in the barbecue, but please don't feel the barbecue is compulsory, your more than welcome just to come along to meet fellow Supra owners. As this needs to be booked (and may need paying in advance, I'll enquire about that soon) we're going to need to arrange this quickly to make sure we get in, so please reply a.s.a.p. if your interested in joining us. Hopefully the weather and turn out will be as good (if not better) than the last meet, which all who attended will agree was a great first meet for the area.
  2. Certainly will do. I'll put down both the 17th and 24th and we'll go with which ever is best for the most people, if that's alright? I'll also check to make sure no other big events are happening on these days. As for the starting time, I'd say 10am sounds good... I'll get me coat! Seriously though, given it's a Sunday and alot of people will have work Monday morning (including me!) I think going during the day would be more suited than the evening.
  3. I'm gutted about this, I was going to stop for petrol but decided I had enough left. I didn't realise the car belonged to someone from the forum, I just thought it was a polite Supra driver flashing another Supra driver.
  4. My choice would be the Royal Victoria Country Park mainly because there web site has a lot more information than the Queen Elizabeth Country Park one, including prices for Bar-b-q's which is... As something like this needs to be booked in advance, we might want to get this organised sooner rather than later. At least I've found out what time they open before the day before!
  5. One of them even shows the OAP's that stopped watching the Grand Prix just to have a look at our cars! I don't know if that's something to boast about or not actually.
  6. That's fine with me. So is the 24/8/03 if that any easier for the others. I can't do the 31/8/03 has I have another wedding to go to!
  7. Well cheers to everyone who turned up. The turn-out was better than I expected and I don't think we could have asked for better weather in the end. (Although my face, arms and neck all seem to be a lot redder than when I left home this morning! ) The convoy of Supra's leaving the pub for the beach looked brilliant in my mirrors. How many people had to look twice, three times, infact 10 times as we drove past them! I've uploaded the few photo's I took onto my website here. Anyway, thanks again to everyone for comming. I'll get the ball rolling for the next meet down here soon if enough people are up for it. Like before I'll try and give people plenty of notice, and the suggestion of a bar-b-q next time also seems like a good idea.
  8. Just to warn you all that although there are no permanent speed cameras on the routes I've plotted, it's not unheard of for speed traps be set-up in the area, especially along the sea front at this time of year - so keep your eyes peeled!
  9. I've just tried 5 other local pubs and they all open at 12, it's a conspiracy. So I propose another option, we still go to The Old Ship but aim to get there for after 11. That way we're not hanging around too long before the pub opens. That gives us a chance to look around the motors, go get an ice cream or take some photos. I'll even get the ice creams in, how about that!
  10. Right, now I have to apologise to everyone as I've just phoned the pub and they don't open 'till 12 on Sundays. Yes I know, I should have checked earlier, but I was sooooo positive it opened at 10. So we have two choices, either... 1) I quickly phone around and find another local pub that does open at ten and rearrange it for there, or 2) We turn up there anyway and then choose what to do, besides giving me a well deserved kicking! It's up to you lot, but I'll start phoning around now.
  11. Looks like the weather is going to be on our side this weekend. Notice how on Monday (after I've spent Saturday making my car shine to show off on Sunday) the weather gets it's revenge for being nice and brings in more thunderstorms. Can those not highlighted green or red just confirm if thet're comming this weekend. That way I wont be on the look-out for you driving past if your not comming! Cheers. 12. I've just tried the BBC weather site and it shows it as being cloudy upto the weekend, but doesn't mention rain or thunder storms anywhere!
  13. It really depends on what everyone wants to do on the day. We could quite easily spend a few hours down the pub looking over the cars, a few drinks and a spot of lunch. Then the general concensus is to go and get some decent photos taken. The beach would be an ideal place, but finding a car park down there empty enough for all of us to park next to one another will probably be wishfull thinking. We may have to try a couple of carparks before we find a suitable one, but then a convoy of Supra's down by the beach is going to look smart and will definitely attract the attention of the "young ladies" down there, which will make the driving around worth while for those of us who's other halfs can't make it.
  14. I live about 5~10 minutes drive away from the pub, so I'll aim to get there for opening (which I believe is 10am on Sundays, but I'll check) and I'll keep a watch out for any of you guys driving past. I suppose it's just turn up when you want to, but if it is hot and sunny then the areas going to get very busy around mid-day, so I'd recommend people getting there before 11am so we all get a parking space in the pub car park. Once there we can decide what to do next. If anyone needs directions then please refer to an earlier post I did which included links to some detailed maps of how to get there from the motorway.
  15. Well it's only 10 days away now so I thought I'd best remind people. Hopefully the weather wont change in that time as it's gorgeously sunny down here at the moment. Mawby Jive Sean doyle Mark Ayling Scooter JohnK dunk657 RICHARDA millhouse999 p00t Anyone else out there wanna join us? Come on, it'll be fun!
  16. Where are you downloading it from? :alien:
  17. There must be something in the water, my mates getting married in a couple of weeks and it's his stag do this weekend, so I can't go either. But then it is a three day stag do, so that should prove interesting!
  18. June was voted out quite early, and August seemed such a long time away. If all goes well with this meet then there's nothing stopping me/us organising another one late August or early September. I'd be up for a regular local meet. It'll be good to put some faces to names and have a butchers at some other Supra's. People hopefully attending... Me Jive Sean doyle Mark Ayling Scooter JohnK dunk657 RICHARDA millhouse999
  19. You'll just have to rearrange whatever else you had planned for that day! People hopefully attending... Me Jive Sean doyle Mark Ayling Scooter JohnK dunk657
  20. I always found the same, loads of meets but never any that close to me. So I thought to myself, why not organise one. So I did! And besides, I've been off work all week ill and I was desperate to find something to do to stop me going mad... As for somewhere scenic and picturesque, I totally agree. There are several very scenic car parks along the coast ideal for taking some pics, the only draw back this time of year is they charge to get in to some of them, but it's hardly anything. Yep, I see no problem with gf's comming.... hehehe (sorry) I'll be bringing mine if shes not working. If they like nice cars then they'll enjoy it as much as the rest of us, and you can even try and score some brownie points by saying your taking her out for a nice Sunday meal! Ummm.. a car park full of Supras... Supras full of gorgeous bikini clad babes! I'll have to make sure my digi camara is fully charged!
  21. OK, in that case I think we'd best finalise the details. Date: 20th July Place: The Old Ship, Lee-On-The-Solent Time: I'll check when they open but I can be there anytime. For anyone who doesn't know the area I've made up (in the context of producing rather than being fictitious! ) some maps showing how to get there from the M27. There's one for people comming from the Portsmouth direction and one for those comming from Southampton. There's also a close up of the area showing local road names and alternative places to park should the pub carpark be full. Portsmouth people... http://www.mawby.dabsol.co.uk/SupraEvents/Portsmouth.gif Southampton people... http://www.mawby.dabsol.co.uk/SupraEvents/Southampton.gif Local street map... http://www.mawby.dabsol.co.uk/SupraEvents/Street.gif I hope this is useful and I look forward to seeing you all there. Lee People hopefully attending... Me Jive Sean doyle Mark Ayling Scooter JohnK
  22. LOL! I never thought of the Supra as being a peace keeper! Truely a magnificent car. So it still looks like the 20th July is the best date so far with the following in attendance... Me Jive Sean doyle Mark Ayling Scooter So that's 3 people from Portsmouth, 1 from Southampton and 1 from Guildford. Jive, you need to get more Southampton people along , otherwise you're gonna be out numbered!
  23. Right, I've just done a search on "20th July OR 20/7" and it returned just two topics, this one and the Upcomming Events one (Where it matched 20th and July on different lines) So I think it's going to be the Sunday 20th July, unless enough people want to make it one of the other dates. That's one of the reasons I suggested Lee as a place to meet, neutral ground to prevent any rivalry!
  24. D'oh! Thats a good point. So that narrows it down to... 12th (Saturday) 13th (Sunday) 20th (Sunday)
  25. I'm glad you said that, I'd better run it past my boss too! Oh well, bit late now! So that narrows it down to the following dates... 12th (Saturday) 13th (Sunday) 20th (Sunday) 26th (Saturday) 27th (Sunday) ...with the following people hopefully attending... Jive Sean doyle Mark Ayling Me
