I don't think it does. I'll have to check next time I'm driving in the dark. So your from Basingstoke, fancy joining a few of us at a couple of local meets? One tomorrow in Sussex and the other is in Netley next Sunday. The last one we held was a great success.
-
Nope, this meet is a Jap one so the MR2 will be more than welcome.
-
Ash, I've just PM'd you with direction from Basingstoke presuming you've never been as far south as the M27 and also presuming you know the M3, which you must do.

I have just received the free parking tickets which I'll hand out at the pub since everyone going to the barbecue is meeting there first. There still five available if others want to join us. At the last count we had the following people down, anyone missing from the list? 2pm Convoy from Sainsburys, M27 J7... millhouse + 1 Jive Johnk p00t Mad Ad Earthrokka Green Supra 2:30pm Pre-barbecue pub meet, The Old Ship... mawby + 1 Jive Mad Ad Scooter millhouse + 1 HISUPE Earthrokka Green Supra JohnK p00t Supradude666 + 1 pulse +1 (but not staying long probably) Geezabloke + 1 6pm The barbecue, Royal Victoria Country Park... mawby + 1 Jive Mad Ad Scooter millhouse + 1 Earthrokka Green Supra JohnK p00t Supradude666 +1

lol, very true. Buy it cooked, burn it on the bbq, and then smother it in bbq sauce! No-one will ever know!
-
Actually that's true for everything you cook on a bbq, the difference with chicken is it's thicker and therefore a lot easier to burn the outside whilst leaving the middle uncooked. This shouldn't be a problem if we get chicken bits intended to be cooked on a bbq.
-
Just to check this is a typo as we're meeting at Junction 7, not 1.
-
There was nearly one less person attending this meet after today. I won't repeat what happened, it's all in my last post on this thread.

Well my first experience of USC wasn't too bad. Only saw three, possibly four Supra's there. Is the preson who owns the very nice red one with graphics down the side here, or the owners of the black or silver ones that actually took part? I'm really looking forward to the Japanese only event now as that should really kick arse! I might even be tempted to give my car a go, it looked great fun! Bloody hot though! :flame Dev 32 degress in the shade, and that was after it cooled off slightly! Had a bit of a hairy experience on the way back. Joining the M27 from the M3, my gf went to over take a 4x4 in the middle lane when this car just appeared from no where in the outside lane. She turned the wheel back quickly to avoid it, but over did it sending us towards the hard shoulder. She thens tries to compensate and turns the wheel the other direction, hitting the breaks shortly after. I know you shouldn't do that, but it's instintive to break when you want to slow down! Anyway, we're now heading towards the central reservation so she compensates again and does a complete 180! We're now in the middle of the M27 at a standstill facing the wrong way with cars heading towards us! Thankfully neither of us paniced. I put the hazards on and told her to drive over the hard shoulder before any of the approaching cars reached us. She did, clipping the barrier in the process. (She drove in an arc towards the hard shoulder so we were facing the right way, but there wasn't quite enough room to do it.) At this point she's panicing a bit because the back corner of the car was still partially on the motorway. She was going to try and sort it, but I made her get out and I quickly reversed it a little and pulled it in properly, with the help of someone who was behind us and saw what happened. He signalled on comming traffic to move over so I could reverse the car a little. Top bloke, it only everyone was that considerate and quick thinking. I then got out and spoke to the bloke, who was congratulating my gf for not hitting anything! Apparently, the reason we didn't see the car was because he wasn't there. In the time it took my gf to check, signal and start to move he had joined the M27 from the M3 and crossed three lanes in one swoop and was attempting to overtake us! Thankfully none of us were hurt, and the damaged to my gf's car was only slight. I was impressed with my gf's nurves of steel. She was determined to get back in the car and continue the journey. We looked at the skid marks and they're quite impressive! In fact they had some resemblance to the ones left by that professional dougnut bloke with the TVR! I didn't think this event would have such a bad influence of my gf's driving!

No need. Hot sunny weather (fingers crossed) + beach + convoy of 13 impressive supra's = plenty of bikini clad babes! Of course, I wont be looking at any of them... not with the girlfriend in the car!
-
Would it not be worth getting the stuff after we've left the pub? I mean, Sainsbury's is only one junction past the junction we need for barbecue and can't be more than a miles distance. Just a thought, save having all that stuff in hot cars all day, especially if the weather is what it's like today. (Off topic I know, but I've just had to take my new wheels of my car to send one back, and now I'm sweating like a blind lesbian in a fish shop!) Also, both me an my girlfriend have Macro cards, so we could stop off there for supplies. It also wouldn't involve making a detour as it's on the junction 9 roundabout. Just an idea. The other advantage of getting the stuff on the way there is we'll know exactly how many people are going (give or take 1 or 2 who are driving straight to the barbecue). Bloody hell, time for a cold shower I think! :flame Dev

Well I did my longer test this morning. Started at 40 leptons, locked the gearbox in 3rd again, and floored it. 1st turbo gave boost up to 0.9, then as the 2nd turbo kicked in the boost dropped to 0.6. Unlike yesterday, I had the opportunity to keep going up to 90 leptons to give the 2nd turbo a chance to do some work, and it did. Right the way up to 1.2 bar! Still no fuel cut! But I'm worried this might damage the engine regardless. I checked the turbo pipes quickly this morning and all seemed tight, with the exception of the one marked as "From Wastegate VSV" in this picture. It wasn't lose in the sense of falling off, but it was the only hose that I could turn around the pipe, all the others where fixed fast and wouldn't budge. Could this hose have anything to do with it? But that still wouldn't account for the lack of fuel cut would it?

Cheers for all the replies everyone. I've not had a chance to look closely at the setup yet but I will at the weekend, or hopefully Friday. I did another little experiment tonight. Driving at 40 leptons, pressed the manu button to hold the car in third... and floored it with the boost gauge recording. The playback showed the following... Steady upto 0.8 Jumps to 0.9 Quickly upto 1.0 Drops to 0.6 (About the time 2nd turbo kicks in) Climbs to 0.8 Drops to -0.5 (End of the road!) I'm going to do a slightly longer test tomorrow on the motorway where I'll have plenty of road to see what the boost gets to with the second turbo active. If it doesn't go above 0.9 say, then could it be the exhaust bypass value not functioning correctly? Also, could this cause the tapping noise I described previously, as this occurs at the point where I'd guess the exhaust bypass value should start to open. I don't know. Is there anyone technical going to the Sussex meet or the Hampshire barbecue that could take a look? Hopefully figure this out once and for all!

I don't notice any fuel cut, I certainly don't get any warning lights come on.

Searching for a component - Pete Betts possibly?

Don't know if these are any use, but the parts are listed on the following sites, just enter UPA1556AH into the search boxes on the form... www.usbid.com eng.semigate.com -
I've been experimenting with this, and it doesn't do it all the time. The car will quite happly go from 70 leptons to over a 100 leptons without going above 0.9 bar, but then on the way home last night it did it again. It was when I overtook a car that was doing 50-60 leptons, I put my foot down, but not enough to make it kick-down from third to second. As I overtook I gave it a bit more gas and took it up to about 80-90 leptons by the time I got past, all still in thrid gear. Then I looked at the boost guage's peak reading and it was 1.09 bar again! (I had reset it in the morning) Now I also noticed what looked like number 1 turbo (as the revs were below 3,000) pushing out about 0.9 bar today all on it's own! I've had a look at the exhaust and both cats still seem to be in place, whether the Jap owner gutted one or not I don't know. I've also had a quick look around the turbos and can't see anything that looks out of place, all looks pretty much stock to me. Where would this bleed value be if one had been fitted? If the boost goes up to 1.1 bar but never beyond, should I be worried given this is a stock setup?

Cause he kicked up a fuss here!

Ok, so if you lot are leaving Sainsburys around 2pm then everyone else might as well aim to get to the pub from 2:30pm onwards. For those of you who haven't been to this pub before, or those who can't remember from last time, here's the directions of how to get there from the motorway. From Portsmouth directions From Southampton directions Local street map Following the routes above will also take you past a Shell station that sells Optimax at 79p/litre, which isn't too bad if you need to top up with fuel. (Especially if your travelling from Wales!) The barbecue isn't ours until 6pm, but I will have 15 car passes so if we do go down there earlier then we can park in one of the non-barbecue car parks until it's our time. I think we should be leaving the pub at 5pm latest. Remember you'll need to bring your own food and cooking utensils, and we'll need to organise some charcoal as well. If the tempreature is anything like today then please ensure all food is kept cool whilst at the pub. We don't want anyone going down with food poisoning! Now as group organiser I have to indemnify Hampshire County Council against any claims arising from this booking. Yeah right, I'm not stupid! So, to cover my own arse, by attending this meet you agree to indemnify me from any claims arising as a result of you or your actions... so there! So no trying to see who can hold their hands in the barbecue the longest, or trying to set fire to your farts, or anything else that blokes get up to when they get to play with fire! Jive, I'm just about to PM Dunk657 and Sean Doyle to see if they want to come. Right, I think that's about it. See you all down there. pre-barbecue pub meet... mawby + 1 Jive Mad Ad Scooter millhouse HISUPE Earthrokka Green Supra JohnK p00t Supradude666 + 1 pulse the barbecue itself... mawby + 1 Jive Mad Ad Scooter millhouse Earthrokka Green Supra JohnK p00t Supradude666 +1

Cheers mate. Now I know what it's called I've used the magical search button and found this, which seems to indicate the noise is quite normal. So maybe it's not this I hear from the inside... but the sound was very similar so maybe it is. Could this have an affect on turbo pressure if it was slighly blocked, as the said thread suggests it might also be used for pressure relief?

Can anyone tell me what this is? It has three pipes comming out of the top, and a couple out of the bottom. The reason I ask is I reported ages ago about a tapping noise comming from the engine somewhere, to which some people said it might be the autobox and I should get the fluid changed. Well it's just had a B service which includes changing the fluid and the noise is still there. However, I noticed when I got out of the car tonight that a very similar noise (which could well be the same noise but sounding different as the engine was off and I was out of the car!) was comming from the black box circled in red. I must have stood there for five minutes looking at it trying to figure out what it was, and it was still making the noise when I left it. As some of the pipes from this device seem to hook into the inlet manifold I wondered if this might also account for the high boost I got the other day? Any ideas? Please don't say it's anything serious, either that or say it'll be covered by my J.I.C. warrenty!

Jive and myself so far, no time has been decided yet. It's a 2pm start - shouldn't take more than an hour to get there from J7 - so how does 1pm sound?
-
That brings it down to £2.86 each! Means I get to spend an extra £1.14 on food!
-
Or in fact any of the following... Earthrokka Roy Green Supra p00t ...you lot still interested in comming? As Pulse pointed out its the bank holiday weekend, so no need to be up early on the Monday for work. Come and join in the fun!

Right, I've just booked the barbecue for Sunday 24th in the evening. I'll get a form soon that I have to send back with £20, I'll then get 15 free car passes for the day. So as it stands at the moment I'll be charging people £4 each to cover the cost of hiring the barbecue. Don't forget you need to bring your own food. pre-barbecue pub meet... mawby Jive Mad Ad millhouse HISUPE the barbecue itself... mawby Jive Mad Ad Scooter millhouse
