  5. We certainly will be, around 6:30pm if all goes to plan. There's 11 of us on Saturday but not all are doing the whole event, but there should still be a fair few of us who make it to the end. See you there.
  6. Anyone else going to The National Finals at Santa Pod on the 27th/28th September?
  7. Having just glanced at peoples profiles the age range seems to be between 22 and 33 so far, but don't let that put you off! If you drive a Supra then you'll be welcome at the meet - simple as that! Me neither. I'll happily cruise at 80 between the destinations as I wont be familar with a lot of the roads. (Unless of course I need to teach a BMW driver he doesn't own the BMW lane! ) Come along! You'll enjoy it!
  8. Six left to confirm their dates... Ashley Willis Mad Ad p00t Timwildman roboldham Matt B ...and a couple of possiblies... Supragal Supraguy
  9. So that's 7 for Saturday and 12 for Sunday. Falling a bit short of our original count of 20 but never mind. Still a couple of days to go.
  10. We're still waiting for confirmation from the following people as to which day(s) you'll be attending... Ashley Willis Mad Ad p00t Timwildman roboldham lust2luv Steve W2 SimonB Matt B Earthrokka Anyone else wanna join us?
  11. I've updated the overview with the location of the nearest Optimax garage to each destination. Thankfully most of them are only a couple of miles away.
  12. Well I do work in Newbury so it wouldn't be too far for me to get there. I'll see what mood I'm in on the day.
  13. No, please see here for full details.
  14. The very first post here has the list of names of people going, but it might be an idea if people post to confirm which days they are going on and where they intend to join the gumball.
  15. They are open now so I just phoned up and checked. They don't open utill 11am. I've adjusted the plan slightly to accomodate this, which probably works out better for those travelling a long distance to get there.
  16. Scooter, please don't think I've ignored what you've said, but as the forum was down I had no choice but to continue with my original plan of two days as we're running out of time for people to get prepared. The total miles for both days is currently around 330 miles, but don't forget you also have to allow for people travelling to/from the start/end points. That could easily make it a 500 mile trip which is why I wanted to split it into two days. I'm a 120+ mile a day person so it wouldn't bother me driving loads of miles, but I also have to be resposible and remember that driving is tiring and I'd hate for anyone to have an accident cause they were driving tired because they wanted to do the whole trip. So I thought it best to spilt this event and then we can decide what to do for the next one depending on how well this one goes. I have added a bit to my web site detailing the intended start/end points, stops, basic routes and overview maps. All the details you should need can be found here. Hopefully the places choosen will provided plenty of oppotunity for photos to be taken. Jive, you'll also notice we go pretty close to Brighton, and could go right through it with a little detour from the route. One thing I have to check is the opening time of the first pub on Saturday, which I will do tomorrow and let you know. Something I haven't done yet is plotted Shell garages that are on the route. I'll get this done soon. Well I hope the line-up is acceptable to everyone and I look forward to seeing everyone on the days. I'll also try and get the word out that the stops can be used as a local meet for people interested in meeting up with us but not with doing the actual gumball. Thanks for everyones support in this event.
  17. The outer ones are the only ones that have rings. All four should be tailgate and brake lights. Maybe someone has set your inner lights to be fog lights?
  18. For safety reasons (ie too much driving) I'm going to make this a two day event. Saturday (the west side) will start in Wiltshire, go through Somerset and Dorset, and end in Hampshire. Sunday (the east side) will start in Berkshire, go through Sussex and end in Kent, although this may change if there's enough time to double back on ourselves and end in Sussex. I'm in the process of sorting the routes now. West side is done, east side hasn't been started yet but will be done early tomorrow. The west side will start at 10:00 and end anytime after 16:30, covering 173 miles and including 6 major stops. The route I've chosen takes us through all the recommended routes where possible. I've allowed for a 1 hour stop at each destination. Any objections speak now.
  19. Mine does it to, so does this indicate it needs adjustment? To quote Adam W...
  20. That sounds like sarcasm to me! Oh, and I don't want any complaints if your shiney new wheels get dirty during this event! Umm... there's an idea, prehaps I should make the last stop a car cleaning stop so everyone can get the dirt and bugs off their cars. Or even hold a "most bugs collected" competition, with the winner receiving a free super delux sponge! On a serious note, I want all decisions about this event made and finalised by Sunday evening. So if you have any suggestions, comments or anything else then please let me know now!
  21. Right, decisions decisions decisions.... I'm going to do another route including Maidstone, possibly even Margate if a suitable place in Margate is suggested. Then I'm going to spend hours (go on, get the violins out!) calculating routes and times between these places and see what happens. Quick show of hands, who would prefer the Haynes motor museum and who would prefer Longleat. Longleat is only a couple of quid to get into the grounds and has my vote because I've been there before and know it will be an execellent place to get a group photo. I might shuffel things around as places like Longleat and StoneHenge close around 5-6, while the pubs don't. I'll have a play ( ) and see what I come up with. Keep the suggestions comming!
  22. That's because for both Kent and Surrey I had no suggestions with the exception of Margate, which wihout some stops in between and without making this a two day event it's not going to happen. As I said, this was a first attempt at a route and is by no means final, but if I don't get ideas for places to go in the East then this is how it will stay. And please suggest actual places (like pubs, parks, beaches whatever) and not just areas. And if we want to go a far East a Margate then suggestions for a stop over/places to stay the night will also be needed.
  23. Given the resposes and suggestions I've made a first attempt at a route. It's not in any detail yet, but you can get the basic idea and decide whether you like it or not. It will NOT be possible to extend the route further in ANY direction unless we either make it a two day event or remove a destination from the other direction. I'm also not to sure we'll be able to go the both Longleat and the Haynes museum purely because of time restrictions. Either that or we miss of Bolney which could save a couple of hours, but that means we're not heading very far East which wouldn't be fair on those from that area. The route starts in the North and ends up in the West. Any questions, comments, suggestions then please let me know ASAP! One thing I'll need to sort out is some stop points in between the larger points, but until we've agreed on those points there's no point trying to sort it just yet. Have you got the point? Points plotted on a map (1.2mb!) Basic route with distances/durations Details of places, in order... Pelican Inn, Froxfield Wellington Country Park, Basingstoke The Bolney Stage, Bolney Pun Penny, Gosport Angel Inn, Bournemouth Haynes Longleat StoneHenge
