  1. Sorry Terry, I clicked on your website link below and given your helpfullness on the matter assumed you worked there. :upside: I haven't had chance to try the PVC thing yet, but as I'm off to Santa Pod for the weekend so I'll try and get it done for then. I'll just have to carry a barrel of oil in the boot of the car! Cheers for all the advice people!
  2. Well I filled up with oil yesterday, drove like a grandad to and from work for 120+ miles with only a couple of seconds of boost - a vacuum of -.5 bar most of the way. Then this morning I checked my oil and it was down to half way again! I've seen no puffs of smoke or anything, so I guess it is the stem seals or the PVC value. All I need now is ToyodaTech to answer the damn phone when I call them! Out of interest Terry, if ToyodaTech are fully booked for weeks on end (like they normally are) and I can't get my car in within reasonable time, when could you fit it in and how long would you need the car to diagnose and fix the problem assuming it is stem seals? Also, is there anything else I should get done at the same time? It's only recently had a cam belt change so that doesn't need doing. I'd like to get big injectors, uprated fuel pump and rail but probably couldn't afford it all in one go. I just hate it when things go wrong with my car!
  3. No I haven't, but I'll give it ago. Cheers.
  4. If any of the tail lights are to be fog lights it would normally be the inner ones. Something to note is that technically it wont pass the MOT like that as the brake lights and fog lights will be too close, but I don't know of anyone who's got caught out by this. Another option is to wire one of the reversing lights as a fog light and just change the bulb for a red one. This is what was done on mine and I think it looks much better. It also prevents the problem of the brake warning light comming on. I believe you can get around that by placing a resistor in the circuit somewhere.
  5. That I don't know. I checked the service document and it's not written on there, and to date I've not needed to put any oil in. I've just driven all the way to work (62 miles) not going .1 bar boost and as far as I could tell there was no smoke or oil smell. Then, just as I reached work at a roundabout I had to blast it to onto the roundabout and although it was only for a second, and I didn't see any smoke, I could definitely smell something funny. I don't know. I'll check the oil level again soon and see if it's gone down given I've been driving with -.5 to -.7 bar vacuum this morning.
  6. Cheers mate. The garage that services my car is ToyodaTech, and I've recommended them to a dozen or so people since I've owned the Supra. It would be a BIG mistake for them to try and shaft me with a bullshit price!
  7. The tickets are £8 with a £1 booking fee. You can pay on the gate, but you wont get access to the club area with the rest of us.
  8. It would also explain the big loss of oil on the Saturday (with all the 18mph cruises we were doing) and the seemingly no loss of oil on the Sunday when doing 70-100 leptons for over 300 miles! I'll get it booked in for it's service and see what they say. If it is the stem seals then how much (roughly) would you expect to pay to get it sorted... worse case senario?
  9. Anyone where the Supra will be safe... that's my only requirement.
  10. I could be up for this, I'll have to see what I'm doing closer to the time.
  11. Sounds like I'm going to have to give it to ToyodaTech to sort out... along with my credit card. I'd like to take it to JPS as I'd like the Blitz controller done as well, but it's a bit of a trek and if it is something serious then I might not be able to afford the controller anyway! Rest assured that if it is a turbo problem I'll be in contact for some big hybrids!
  12. Just checked the oil, there's just under half on the dipstick. However, the car is on a slight slant with the front end lower than the rear. would this cause the reading to be higher or lower than it actually is? Also, looking under the car it might well be leaking oil again. Not massives, 10ml maybe. Hard to tell as I don't know how much was already from the previous leak. Terry, I'm interested in your opinion as to what you think this might be. I was the one enquiring about using the Blitz boost controller to limit boost. (I e-mailed Leon about it)
  13. That's what I was thinking, and with the MOT due in Novermber I'm guessing it wont pass if the problem isn't sorted.
  14. Well it's due its oil change service right about now actually. It's just it seems a bit sudden and with the 120+ miles I do a day I don't want to be running out of oil on the way.
  15. I've only noticed it smoke when I jabbed the accellarator having been crawling for a distance and then idle for a few seconds to a minute. I didn't/haven't noticed it when driving, but given the amount of oil gone I presume it must be burning it at other times. I asked at the Gumball if anyone saw it smoking and one person said it was a little but nothing major. The puffs at LongLeat were very noticable.
  16. I've not noticed it since ToyodaTech tightened the rocker cover bolts. Given the puffs of smoke I'd say it's definitely being burnt. So does it sound more like value stem seals or turbo oil seals? I think I know which one it is and I it's not going to be cheap.
  17. I have done a search and I think I know the answer, but it's always good to check. My cars been pretty good up to now with no loss of oil, except for recently where ToyodaTech diagnosed rocker cover bolts were lose and oil was leaking down the side of the engine. Well some of you on the Saturday Gumball may remember my car was smoking a bit which it has never done before. This was most noticable when we stopped at LongLeat. There was a good mile or so drive at sub 20mph up to the gate, and when I pulled away from the gate there was a big puff of oily smoke. It did it again in the car park when I pulled away. When I got home I checked the oil and it was half way. I then checked it again after the Sunday Gumball (320+ miles of spirited driving) and it was still half way. However, on my way to work this morning I accellarated hard to get into the fast lane and for a second or so the oil level warning light came on. It didn't do it again but I was not happy. I'm just letting the engine cool down now and I'll go and see if any more oil has been lost. There is an oil burning smell, but not all the time. When I started the car this morning there was no signs of burning oil nor any smell. So, given the details above and the fact I was running 1.2-1.3 bar for a few months without knowing it, and the fact the car is just about to clock 80k miles, what d'ya think it is?
  18. I only went out for a couple of hours and there's been like 30 or more posts in that time! Anyway, that link don't work Kev. It says I am not the owner of the album.
  19. You shouldn't take the piss.... she's got your number!
  20. Those of you who showed an interest in the Jap meet in October will need to get your tickets soon as we need to tell Santa Pod how many of us are going. Hopefully all you who enjoyed yourselves this weekend will also want to go. It will probably be the last big Jap meet of the year. Thanks again to everyone for making this a great weekend. Keep your eyes peeled for more "local" meets heading this way, and have a look at the Upcoming Events thread from time to time to see what events are going on.
  21. I do and I am, but still I get the same error message.
  22. Thanks to everyone for turning up. Both days had there highlights, a record for the slowest convoy was achieved on Saturday at a whopping... wait for it... 18mph! That's right, no matter where we went or what roads we took, if it was slow and cumbersome then it was infront of us, and nine times out of ten we couldn't get past the bloody thing! Anyway, despite that the day was a relative success. As for today, what can I say. This was a major success with over 20 of us from Box Hill to the near end. My appoligise for taking us to two pubs that were closed on Sunday's... but I think most will agree that the Little Chef at the end was actually a top place. They let us rearrange the tables so we were all sat together and provided some much wanted and needed grub! I've certainly learnt a few lessons in Gumball planning this weekend, so hopefully the next one will be even better! I'll also consider the suggestions for a Cornwall camping weekend and a night time rally; watching the sun set in the West of the country and rallying to the East to watch it rise again. Anyway, having done 320 miles today I'm now off to bed... just thought you'd like to know that! Thanks again to everyone for making this event the success it was!
